Jake. T of Periphery is John Petrucci's Nephew. Thought that was neat...yet obscure.

Do you mean Jake Bowen or is Jake T a nickname of his?

Thanks for the link.  Liked the bits I could listen to.

Thought this would be an obscure enough bit of trivia.

Two albums that have a bit of symmetry to them:

Justin Hayward & John Lodge’s Blue Jays. At the very end of the last track, When You Wake Up, just before it fades completely, Hayward plays a guitar line matching the melody of the first track, This Morning.

Ambrosia’s Somewhere I’ve Never Travelled. Again, the last track, We Need You Too, fades with the line “somewhere I’ve never travelled…” taken from the opening title track.

Canterbury luminaries Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin did a cover-version of 'It's My Party' during the early-80's - the fading keyboard motif played by Dave is a theme from National Health's 'Tenemos Roads' !!!

Thanks for pointing that out......I heard their version of the 'Lesley Gore song' and I thought there was something familiar about the end.

Frank Zappa played the part of "The Critic" in The Monkees Movie called "Head"

and not so obscure, Ringo Starr played the part of Frank Zappa in Frank Zappa's movie " 200 Motels"

When British singer Barry Palmer sent a response to an ad in Melody Maker for a vocalist for Triumvirat, who were replacing Helmut Koellen, Palmer sent Jurgen Fritz a copy of his version of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed". This immediately impressed Fritz, as it was his favorite song at the time.

There are/were 3 bands called Amon Duul.  The first Amon Duul split almost instantaneously, with one faction retaining the name and the other using the name Amon Duul II. Some time later, Amon Duul II members John Weinzierl and Dave Anderson left that band, forming a new band called Amon Duul.

Not sure about this ...

It was originally a commune that had a lot of people and what was released as "Amon Duul" was not a band but a lot of the folks in the commune doing their ... thing ... or what I call their Saturday Night gig.

My feeling was that there were, in the middle of those people, some folks that wanted to do more with music, but many of the folks were not musicians themselves and were merely getting stoned, having fun and getting laid ... and this group of folks decided that they did not want to be a part of it.

And the album name and title piece should give it away for you ... starts out totally stoned and ends up in a party/orgy!

There were at least two other versions of Amon Duul.

One had a couple of albums and was done during the hiatus of some folks in the band, or during one of their famous and grandiose disagreements ... and it had CD's like "Fool Moon" and Ed Wynne and Robert Calvert ...

The other version was a mix that John has said is a "b*****d album" that will not get around ... Embryo was the sister band to Amon Duul from the commune days and they did an album that had a bunch of stuff, some of which was a bit jazz'ier and closed with a really nice jazzy piece. In it were "What You Gonna Do?" which showed up 20 years later on many live albums and redos. Still not as good as the original! The album was called "Utopia" and had a plane flying over and one of its rear wings was missing. It is a very nice album and deserves the distribution and the listen. It also shows a nice direction and improvement for the band, that they did not follow and left behind ... later they did do another rock star song ... "Explode Like a Star" but it was not as good as Renate's, even though it did have its own point to make.

Prior to forming Camel in the early 1970's, Peter Bardens had been keyboard player with a number of bands, including his own Pete B's Looners which featured guitarist Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) in its line up.

And one of Peter Bardens closest friends was Mick Fleetwood ... and he talks about it on his biography. He did say that it was one of those things ... they both just did not manage to connect and play with each other, although they both wanted to.

Mick Fleetwood appeared on Barden's Art of Levitation, which was released 11 years ago today.  Peter passed away 3 weeks later

About Bardens, there's an EP containing 4 short songs entitled "I Can See The Whole World Turn Round". It's the only release of the band below:

IIRC, Pete and Mick did play and record together. Mick played on Pete's Speed Of Light album in '89 and I recall the tour ad in the paper citing "Pete Bardens' Speed of Light Band featuring Mick Fleetwood."

I just read that Annie Haslam was present, as part of the audience, at The Beatles fooftop concert. Suposedly she even appears in the video (though I guess one would have to pay a lot of attention to spot her).

When Harvest released Helmut Koellen's posthumous solo album You Won't See Me in November of 1977 in Germany and South America, there was also a promo single of the record's title track.

I just read that recently too, I think it's from his Wakka/Jawaka album.

Yeah, she shared the video on FB. Can you tell me at what time-mark you can see her?
