Given up on Disney for the moment , too expensive and not enough to watch. First Season of Loki was brilliant but I wanted more episodes. 6 is just not enough (IMO)

Binged the first 5 episodes of Fargo Season 5 last night. Stars Juno Temple (from Ted Lasso) and is absolutely brilliant with the added bonus of music from Yes and Rush in the first couple of episodes. Jon Hamm is also in it playing a very dodgy sheriff who believes his word is law like the good ol' days.

The Fall of the House of Usher  Mike Flanagan can do no wrong these days and this is up there with his best. Actors from his past shows are here again, but they are all great. Loosely based on the Poe short story this is a tale of greed, excess and families. Only 2 eps in so far, but it's gripping and, oh my, the end of episode 2 was something else (I did sort of guess that it something like that would happen). Love it.

I like Mike Flanagan, I watched his previous shows so I am gonna watch this one at some point.

Check out his movie Occulus (2013), if you haven't, it's a great horror movie IMO. Smile

Finished a few things this week

Animal Kingdom (6 Seasons)
Epic crime drama about a LA family headed by a matriarch played by the superb Ellen Barkin (her best role for many a year). I loved it all, great actors and great writing. 9/10

Upload Season 3
Lightweight comedy drama from Greg Daniels (also responsible for Space Force and Parks and Recreation)
Enjoyable and very undemanding I'm always up for this type of thing. 8/10

Burning Girls 6 Episodes
Stars Samantha Morton, she plays a vicar that takes a post in an English village that celebrates a pagan tradition (the aforementioned ''Burning Girls''). It's a real mess of unlikely twists and goings on that only happen on TV it seems. Shaun Of The Dead was more scary! 5/10

I loved The House On Haunted Hill and Midnight Mass but didn't enjoy The Haunting Of Bly Manor or The Midnight Club nearly as much.
Nowadays I don't have Netflix so I'm not sure I'll ever get to watch this.

Just finished watching A Nearly Normal Family.
It's a Swedish 6-episode drama series on Netflix.
If I would pretend to be a TV critic, I would say it's about revenge and justice, from a female perspective.
It was really good. Recommended.

Yeah, the first Haunting one was excellent, and Midnight Mass too (I actually did like The Midnight Club). I think you'd love The Fall of the House of Usher - a shame if you can't watch it. Remember those horror flicks in the 70s e.g.  The Abominable Dr. Phibes where people die one at time in horrible ways. This Usher TV Show has that sort of feel to it - with modern twists of course and loads more going on as well. I'm half way through now and liking it a lot and love all the nods to other Poe stories.

Yeah it was the The Haunting Of Hill House (not The House on Haunted Hill lol). I thought that had some strong emotional drama, the scene where the 2 sisters are driving and then have to stop was incredibly good and brought a tear to my eye. Midnight Mass might actually be the best horror TV series ever made. Again some strong drama to make the horror all the more real.
I got a bad feeling about Netflix when they threw a ton of money at Harry and Meghan. Terrible idea especially as they were already cutting back on investment generally.

A couple more

Minx Season One
Produced by Starz, this is about a (presumably) fictional feminist porn magazine that launched in the 60's. Stars the British actress Orphelia Lovibond who is usually known for playing stuck up/entitled English women. Here she is playing 'American' and is a bit uptight. I enjoyed it despite of (or maybe even because!) of the explicit male and female nudity. There is even ** shock of shocks** an erect penis in one episode. 8/10

The Serial Killer's Wife (4 episode mini series)
The title seems to be a spoiler (or is it?!). Stars the beautiful Engish actress Annabel Scholey who is best known for Medici The Magnificient and Brittania. She is very good but the ending seemed a bit ridiculous. 6/10

Finally got around to watching all of Cunk on Britain and Cunk on Earth. Absolutely tear-inducing hilarious. Also enjoyed The Great for the first couple seasons.

^ I'll have to catch Cunk, you know something will be funny when the very thought of the format makes you laugh.

Just finished The Fall of the House of Usher. And what a TV show it is. There are so many nods to Edgar Allen Poe stories it's amazing they could get them all in. A wonderful script and excellent acting. It's easily a 10/10 for me.

Beacon 23 - Sc-Fi with Lena Heady. "A man living in the 23rd Century works at a remote "lighthouse" in space that serves as a beacon to help passing ships." It's OK, but the reviews on IMDb are quite poor. I'm liking it so far. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9174724/

^ How are you watching Beacon 23? I can't find a lot of information about how it's being streamed in the UK.

^ It's not streamed in the UK yet. It's on MGM+ in the US - so a VPN is required.

On Netflix. Amazing. Awesome.

Hi,

Definitely awesome, though it has a very sad ending. That man should not be teary eyes ... the amount of work alone is something that most artists will never reach in several lifetimes.

Po ... I tip my hat to you, and I'll make sure and smile and say thank you a few times when it is time for you to embark on your new journey!

The main sad thing about it all is that it was not able to show that the "art" that meant so much for 30/40 years, is no longer "viable" as a tool to help the artists. Today's independence via all the music tools and DAW's means that no one is gonna think of an artist much ... cue up the picture and the meaningless idea!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

^ You aren't missing much tbh. We finished Beacon 23 last night and the last 2 episodes were rushed and confusing. A series 2 has been mooted already - it needs to improve though. 6/10

Bosch: Legacy (Season 2)

Starring Titus Welliver, this is a bit of a throw back to old seventies detective dramas, I especially love the fact that they take some real care with the theme music and titles ( I never skip!). The 'Legacy' bit is that Bosch's daughter Maddie (played by Maddie Lintz) joins the LAPD so we see her story develop alongside his new job working as a private detective. Also features Mimi Rogers as the lawyer Honey Chandler. Like her very much! A show with it's own style and rhythm. 8/10
