Your actions are always a bit more radical than mine will ever be, Rob.

If I can get into physics, I'm pretty sure I can follow through with my original career goals.  I've already had an engineering internship and have another one set up for this coming summer.  If the program is gonna be that stickly about it then they can go f*ck themselves, I'll get it done myself.

I have never sued anyone and probably never will.  But I guide my circumstances to not lead in the direction of litigation.

That said, if I feel I am wronged in academia, then I will seek remedy.  Schools strive to save face, especially, in this strange world of the Internet, where reputations can be dashed upon a tweet like Icarus' hot body could be dashed upon the greedy waves.

I just feel like the path of least resistance is what I want to take at this point.  I'm done fighting with my advisor, if this physics deal works out then I'll be no worse for wear.  Maybe even better off; I'll have fewer business courses to take.

I wish you well you in the course you have chosen.

Alas, my beer is done.

Cheers, Rob Hug

I'm pissed, but it's not a wasted opportunity.  Most of my credits will transfer over, and I should still end up with the same result.  My path was merely blocked, not forked.

I posted this on my homeschool group's site "Looking for musicians between 12 and 15 to improvise with. No long term commitment needed. Experimentation is encouraged."

Here's a couple of recordings from Sunday's gig, two originals I wrote. Thought the Shred would be a friendly audience.  The venue: my friend's backyard for his 50th birthday party.  Many middle aged people and young children milling around.  The 1st song is a punk song, and it was immediately clear that this wasn't the ideal audience to appreciate this kind of song.  But we plowed through it, getting horrified looks here and there, and it turned out pretty good.  The 2nd one was a first-time (hopefully not last-time) performance.  As with the first song, it's from a song idea I came up with long ago, before I got old and complacent.

You've probably heard the first one already, Gabe (albeit different performance).  I quite like this version too, though.

Yeah I've heard both before, they're good songs. Smile

Shame about the lack of a good audience.

Interrrupted 4 times while listening to it, so it may have lost something, but I did make it through Watch Your Diction.  It didn't sound overly punk to me.  It was enjoyable.

Thing is, the knee-jerk impulse is to say "MY GOD, THAT'S WRONG!" but when you stop to think about it, what's really wrong with it?  Setting aside one's opinion on (legal) hunting in general, that is.  Otherwise they're just offering the public an incentive to buy their product.  It's just a strange mismatch of commodities.

"Buy a new Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, and get a free dental checkup with Dr. Roger Foon!"
