Earth's newest album Primitive and Deadly. It basically represents a return to their doom metal roots with heavy guitar, a la Extra-Capsular Extraction and Thrones and Dominions with actual vocals and more song-oriented composition, but with some added influence from their later folkier style.
"The past is not some static being, it is not a previous present, nor a present that has passed away; the past has its own dynamic being which is constantly renewed and renewing." - Claire Colebrook

Vanishing Point: Distant is the Sun (2014)
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Dragged into Sunlight - Hatred for Mankind
As you can imagine from the cover art, this is some of the vilest nastiest music I've heard in a long time. Basically, it's black metal that often goes into some unexpected sludgy/doomy slower parts while also showing a strong punk sensibility, but in a much subtler way than a band like Impaled Nazarene as the song structures are actually rather complex: The instrument tunings and a lot of the melodic structures are often closer to Crass, early Killing Joke or Rudimentary Peni than the average black metal group. Not to mention that they approach a lot of typical black metal themes but from an unusually realistic angle, all while going over the top with the Satanic/occult symbolism. It's a totally counter-intuitive way of pulling things off, but somehow they make it work.

"Valentyne Suite" - Colosseum - 1969 - UK
Early progressive band with a blues, jazz, rock and spacey sound.
Underrated by some - highly appreciated by others.
