Yeah I know. Makes me hate Christmas.

I never really did anything for Christmas anyways but still.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

I celebrate Hanukkah. Chocolate, latkes, and presents are always a good combination, along with no school.

I never really had a family so that's why I don't celebrate any holiday.

I never really knew my grandparents. My mother has no relatives and my father has not really talked with his brothers/sisters for a couple years.

Oh. I thought you meant you never really knew your parents/siblings. Half of my family lives in Israel, but my mom keeps in touch with them. I have some step-uncles and step-cousins and such, but we don't talk to them.

No. I (along with my brother) was born in Philly, but my mom was born in Israel. My dad was also born in Philly.

Oh ok I see. I'd like to go there one day. Too bad they've been at war for ever. Ouch

Israel will probably always be at war. It's not dangerous to go there. My mom's there now. Tel Aviv is pretty safe. Just avoid public transportation, because the most common attack is in the form of bus bombings. Taxis aren't too expensive, I don't think.

I don't think I will before a couple years anyways. I have a few trips planned up for the next summers.

Next summer, I just might go on a big hitch hiking trip from Amsterdam to Istanbul.

And then, I might go to Mongolia with a Belgian girl I met recently the next summer.

Where are you getting all of the money to go to these places?

I'm quite poor. I barely have any money. But because of how I travel, I don't need much money anyways. I only need to pay for the plane and then some little things.

I'd never go hitchhiking. I like hotels.

I never understood why so many people go to the Carribean and places like that just to go to the beach. There are so many beaches within 2 hours of here, but instead they go far away. On every vacation I go on, I mostly go to museums and learn about the history instead of getting a tan.

Couldn't agree more about that second statement. When I travel, I want to immerse myself in the local's culture. I don't care about going to some Carribean beach or anything. Well yeah, I could care but I would probably go to not-so touristic place and then have fun with the locales.

The only exception is when I go to Israel, but that's more of just to visit relatives, but we do go to the beach and shop and do that kind of thing. Then again, I've already been to many of the museums.

Yeah, going to beaches is obviously fun. It's just that I don't see why you would just go to tropical island just to crash on a beach and get a tan. Enjoy the local flavor and culture while you're at it.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

Well, I went to Aruba on my honeymoon, and I sure as hell wasn't going to head to the Jersey shore in October.  Wink
