I don't remember if you posted thoes links here before, Yuko (probably yes), but here are some sites which may be of interest to Zeuhlians:
http://www.muzikzeuhl.org/ (French, sorry)
http://progressive.homestead.com/RIO.html (there is also some Zeuhl here)
I am now after Eider Stellaire, Verto and Abus Dangereux but they are even harder to track down than Pataphonie and Vortex....

Going back to Nyl/Nil here is the original sleeve design. And from this site (http://www.vinyl-collector.com/records/lp/7289-Nyl--URUS/) it's yours for 220 euros |

I discovered it a few weeks ago. It has very interesting bio's for great bands.
Too bad it's in French, eh?
It is good for my French.

Just spent thirty minutes trawling the internet for the fantastic eighties reissue sleeve art for Nyl and came up with, well, nothing. I saw a picture of it quite recently as well Seem to remember some 80s bird and a picture of the band framed in some sort of Athena red and white dynamics. Quality! |

I was looking for some information on the French (I think) zeuhl band Zoikhem as there are a couple of their cds at the 'Progressive Rock Hall'. Anyone recommend them ? Came across this possibly interesting French site on my travels: http://membres.lycos.fr/sleeprev/ch.html |

This is a nice site, although not complete and extensive. Not really reviews they have, but it has the discographies with some notes there.
But at least they mention there Amy Denio (and the many projects she's been in, includeing the very interesting and accomplished Ec-Nudes)

Who edits the Zeuhl discography here at PA? XAAL should REALLY be on that list [amongst quite a few others...]

Well, that would be our ZAR Team (ZART for short).
I haven't heard Xaal, so I can't comment. Where can I listen to samples, so we could determine this?
Oh, and what other bands did you have in mind?
Thanks for you info, Claire!

I haven't heard any Xaal either... but of three reviewers, only Yukorin mentiones Zeuhl as an influence - Hugues and Cesar don't. Worth investigating... |

here's a review of their 2nd CD:
This posthumously released album let us hear a more spacious sound than on their debut On The Way (En Chemin). The album was produced two years after the actual recording and had to be a statement from the line-up at that particular time consisting of Patrick Boileau, Nicolas Neimer and Jad Ayache. With the inclusion of sax and synthesizer in the instrumental "Seconde Ere" gives a much darker sound that leans towards Zeuhl. Whilst the guitar remains in the background the fusion of different elements result in an unexpected accumulation of power where Crimson and Magma reign. Listen to the opening track "Ràh" and feel the speakers coming down. It’s as if the arrival of the Roman army is announced: power, power and even more power ! Marvel at the glorious fretless bass in the slightly oriental "Jamais Tranquille." "Al Abad" is more free-jazz oriented with some Brand X tendencies. Dissonant sounds are the trademark of Xaal, whilst on the domain of percussion there’s no way you can compare it. If you’re looking for something mystic and entirely new and if you’re into Zeuhl, Magma, Weidorje, Zao, then this is it! |
