Their other two albums are also very good in their own way, just not as obviously `prog' as that one. The first one `Attack of the Grey Lantern' has really ambitious Brit-pop stuff on it and is a terrific album overall, and the third album `Little Kix' has more of a less complex synth-pop/new romantic sound, which was a disappointment coming after `Six', but it proves its worth for what it is after several spins. They also had a ton of singles/Ep's loaded with B-sides (and most of them very good) that their fans were manic about.

Last night's listens:

Focus – Live at the Rainbow
Atomic Rooster – In Hearing Of...
Mondo Drag - s/t
La Coscienza di Zeno – La Notte Anche di Giorno
Sezione Frenante – Metaforsa di un Viaggio
Kitaro – Asia (live)
Forrest Fang – The Sleepwalker’s Ocean
Eric Wollo – Blue Radiance
Steve Roach – Texture Maps

Kitaro, that is a name I have not heard in a long time.  Used to have a bunch of his stuff in the early 90s, but have not heard any in about as long.  It is overdue!

Love that Focus album, it was the first album by them I bought.

Hey Jim, I only got to that particular Focus album quite recently, even though I've long known the status is has! Needless to say, it's a ripper!

Kitaro....I completely 100% defend his first several albums as being very worthwhile prog-electronic releases, even if they have many gentle moments! Pretty much up until the mid 80's most of his albums were very strong, and then of course the New Age elements took over a lot more. I honestly wish he was on the Archives, but I'm pretty sure he was knocked back long ago, no doubt being written off because of the stigma his New Age popularity brought. I avoided his music for so long expecting the worst, but when I had the opportunity to pick up a few of his earlier works dirt-cheap on CD, I took the chance and was quite stunned at how good they were!

Actually, that `Asia' live album is really decent, someone pointed out to me that it's really quite `prog rock', and they were right! The drums, the lethargic acoustic guitar strums and the dreamy synths all make it surprisingly sound like parts of Novalis' `Sommerabend'!

Focus – Live at the Rainbow
Yes, very much. It's quite accessible and catchy but also really interesting musically, that it didn't seem like a 70 minute album. I already knew "Legacy", I don't know from where. I'll keep an eye out for their albums Thumbs Up

I heard that Focus album last week, it's the only one I have. It's fantastic... and impossible not to headbang furiously to the sound of Hocus Pocus LOL
