What a corny ball of fun that MST3K was...

I think I rocked so hard yesterday I caught a cold.

Started writing a novel about this kid in a dystopian country a few hundred years from now. The kid lives in what used to be Western Russia. The streets are dangerous, full of muggers. The Smart-patrol enforce the strict laws, and send any law breakers away to the army. They have very little rights and are bombarded with propaganda, ect. I don't know exactly what's going to happen, but I know he's going to break a law and be sent to the army, and then he'll go into battle, and the soldiers, most of whom are rebels and free thinkers will try to get free and escape into enemy territory.

That's always an interesting sci-fi concept.  I read Orwell's "1984" back in high school (when it WAS 1984 - a fact that gave the teachers no end of pleasure), and to this day it's one of the most memorable books I've ever read.  When you think about it, countless other works have the same basic plot -- the lone wolf rallying against a totalitarian governmental machine.  I think it's popular because it allows us to live vicariously through another person's individuality and bravery, and allow us to imagine how we could be similarly intrepid and heroic.

yeah, I love dystopian fiction. It also allows us to learn a terrible and terribly important lesson without it actually happening.
I read 1984 when i was 11. I was reading late at night and I got to the part, "We are the dead." "We are the dead" "YOU ARE THE DEAD" and then the thought police came in and took them. scarred the f**k out of me. Took hours to fall asleep

Where they take Winston and Julia away. Where they catch them. They see the fat lady outside singing and Winston says she has her own beauty. Then he says "We are the dead', Julia repeats, and the guy who rented them the room says "You are the dead", thought police run in and take them to Room 101.

I never understood why people were horrified by 1984. It's a good album.

You mean book? Or the Rick Wakeman album?
If you mean the book, I wasn't horrified by the book ,just that one part. I found the book to be excellent

Of course!  I forgot about the Van Halen album.  It's prob my favorite of theirs too

Hugh Hopper's 1984 didn't chart quite so high

Seriously, no... just a dry, soft cloth of some sort.  Never had that problem myself.
