Tough for me to say, but I'm very tempted to agree.

I hardly consider Octavaium prog at all, with the exception of the title track, Sacrificed Sons and Panic Attack, the rest is pretty straight-forward metal or pop, don't you think?

I can't wait to hear more from Robert. I think my band's next album will be released about... February 2010 or so; I'm pretty stoked about that. You'll have to hear that one, Pablo, it'll be different than the previous two in a way that makes it more accessible and less abstract. Still may not be your favorite style (it's far from Heavy Prog or Symph, probably), but it's more worth your time. I don't recommend that you hear the 2nd one. Haha.

I'd say the title track is 100% prog, and so are those two tracks, yep. As for the rest of the album, yeah, it is more straight-forward, even for DT. It's definitely not my favorite DT album (or in my top 3), but I still quite like it.

I have Octavarium, and think I've never listened to the whole album... Just not my cup of tea, I suppose.

Yeah, not sure why, but I also quite of like it. It's quite a bit addictive, even if it is barely original for me, hence my 2 stars review

Yeah, I still need to hear that second of yours, and as you said, it's not pretty much my kind of music. But will be greeted to hear your 3rd if you recomend me to do so! Always open for new stuff, btw, HP is not really my fave PROG sub-genre, if not a part of Heavy Rock for me of course, which HR is indeed one of my fave genres. Also, as you should know, a big fan of Zappa BTW, good luck with the album!

Guys, tomorrow I'm going to that language school to participate in a training session... The lady in charge there invited me, so I suppose I'll be having a sort of interview too. She seems very interested in me, and to say I'm excited is an understatement. I don't know what is going to come out of it, but it may well be that, if I start working (even part-time), my time here will be very much reduced. And, seen how things have been going lately, it is a blessing.... Won't say anything else here.

(corrected) You know I'm not a big fan of DT, and very much prefer their 90's stuff to their Rudess stuff. My fave is Falling Into Infinity I know how you hate that one

Don't worry about it, haha. Scott had the same exact sentiments, and I even told him to pass it up, because the 2nd one is extremely in the realms of experimental and avant music (especially with the tribal backwards voices). I still love it, but I can understand that it's inaccessible to most people because it's so abstract.
Whether you listen to it eventually or not doesn't matter to me.

Oh, okay, that's true. Zappa is pretty much my biggest creative idol; he was certainly a musical genius.
So far our 3rd one sounds pretty eclectic... it's impossible for me to describe really because I try to do something totally unique with each album, but it carries some electronic/spacey elements from the first two but also allows a bunch of other things to take the center stage as well.
It's also song-oriented (they stand on their own and complete an album), whereas the first two were entirely album-oriented. I feel like my songwriting has improved quite a bit too, and some things are easier because I know what I'm doing more.
BTW, good luck with the album!
Thanks! It's been going really well lately and I feel like we're creating something really cool (well, I did before, but it's so exciting to do something new too). I've had a two-week long break though because Danny is at cello camp, but he comes back tomorrow, so we'll start working alot again.

That's great, Raff! I hope that goes well for you. I think a break is definitely necessary from this site every great once in a while; that's completely understandable too. I know what you mean.

Wow, you're a hard-working band! I like that! Like I said, I will surely check that one out! And yes, Zappa was indeed a musical genius, would have loved to see him live!

Falling Into Infinity is by far my least favorite (well, besides the debut ), but mainly for the reason that it feels very forced commercial and stripped down Dream Theater to me. I can see why other people would like it though, and I wish I did. I'm much more of a Rudess fan. I do love Images and Words and Awake, but I generally prefer SFAM onwards to the period before.
