Firstly, "Birds Short Introduction (3:20)" is actually available on digital releases. I have attached a link to Spotify so you can see this.

Also, I believe it should be mentioned that the "Bonus CD" is actually just the "Birds" album.

Bonus CD from 2023 Limited Edition - Birds:
1. Birds (Part 1) (22:08)
2. Birds Piano Intermezzo (1:14)
3. Birds (Part 2) (7:09)
4. Birds (Part 3) (18:40)
5. The Day Is Done (2023 remastered version) (4:48)
6. Birds Short Introduction (3:20)

Yes, the 'Birds' album is on Spotify to listen to, but it can't be bought separately on Bandcamp (or Karfagen's other retail outlets), where it is only available as the physical bonus CD of the "Passage to the Forest of Mysterious" & "Birds" 2CD package. It is also available digitally on Bandcamp as part of the combined album - but without track 6: 'Birds Short Introduction'. The combined album isn't available on Spotify as yet - 'Birds' is labelled as Karfagan's latest album there, but as soon as it is, I suspect that the 'Birds' standalone album that is there now will disappear, or at least lose its functionality.

Antony could kill all this confusion at a stroke by making both albums available individually as well as in a combined package. Then the labelling would be straightforward. Only time will tell if he will do that though.

Edit: The Birds album, including track 6: 'Birds Short Introduction', is available to purchase on Amazon.com and Apple Music, so maybe it will eventually appear on Bandcamp as a standalone album too? It was released on 18th March, just six days before the combined album. Other sites such as MusicMeter NL and Proggnosis still have one of the apparently temporary, stopgap 'Birds: Passage to the Forest of Mysterious' albums listed. This really is a mess at the moment until things have hopefully settled down in a week or so's time.

Possibly this note can be made to the "Birds" album?

I just found two purchase links for the 'Birds' album on Amazon and Apple Music which do include the 'Birds Short Introduction' track 6 - see my edit above. Other sites are still showing albums that are no longer available since the 2CD package was released though, so I think the best thing we can do is just wait a while and hope that Antony realises he has created a hornet's nest here, and that he shortly makes both components available individually everywhere, so that labelling of the various options becomes much easier.

Edit: This web archive page from 28th January 2023 is the version of the album which MusicMeter NL and Proggnosis still show, and it was Karfagen's latest album on Bandcamp in late December 2022, but it has now been superseded by the one we are struggling with the title of.

Edit 2: Our PA page for the 'Birds' album, which admins deleted the other day since the individual album is not generally available anymore, only listed the first four of the six tracks which eventually made it onto the final version of the album. This is how our page looked on 25th March 2023.

Yes, that's pretty accurate now for the actual details of the album. Thumbs Up

If Antony wants to call the package simply 'Passage To The Forest Of The Mysterious', even though it has to be bought at the moment bundled with the 'Birds' album, then I guess we have to comply with his wishes - even if pretty well everywhere else the LTD Edition 2CD package is called "Passage To The Forest Of The Mysterious" & "Birds" (either with or without quotes).

Looks good apart from the date at the end of the 'Birds' album, which is missing the last digit. This was the album that Mayer originally added, and our admins deleted because it didn't seem to be available after the LTD edition package was released, but it is still on Amazon, Apple Music and Spotify, so let's hope it stays there! LOL

LOL! Are you sure they're actually bonus tracks? Ermm

The Caerllysi Music page for the album doesn't mention them as being bonus tracks, and they are the people who actually released the CDs. Mind you, they talk about the core of CD 1 coming from the creative period during the Dragon and Bird sessions, including some bird melodies which beautifully tie the two albums both in sound and spirit, whilst the bonus track is a remixed and remastered version of the previous digital only single 'The Day Is Done' (this has actually been released as CD2) and Disc 2 is a directors cut, an instrumental version totally reworked from the Passages studio album (actually CD1). Confused

At the bottom of the Bandcamp page the track listing is totally mixed up, with 'Birds of Passage and the Enchanted Forest (Single Version)' appearing as part of the 'Birds' album rather than the 'Passage to the Forest of Mysterious' one. This release really has been a can of worms...the birds will be having a feast down there in the Forest of Mysterious lol! LOL

Edit: To be fair to Caerllysi Music, the 'Birds' album was going to be CD 1 when the pre-order tracklisting was revealed, and that description above would have been accurate, but Antony then added a few more tracks, swapped others over between the discs, and reversed them as CD 1 and CD 2. The goalposts moved somewhat lol! LOL

I reckon it's always a bit risky adding an album to the site before it's actually been released, as minor last minute changes are not uncommon, but this album has been something else!

Marked handled requests because otherwise it's hard to understand what's done and what's not.

Will read the Karfagen "novel" later, too many words to get into at once. Smile

P.S. To make the page better readable, also deleted a couple of Julien's "Thanks, done" posts. Hope it didn't hurt.

^ OK boys, I think we're good now.

I don't think we need to specify bonus tracks on the Passage album. On CD 1, the "single version" mention is equivalent to "bonus track". On CD 2, bonus tracks on a bonus disc is absurd.

And... cover art for Birds was updated for HD quality.

You're right! Embarrassed

I should have checked this myself really, since I posted a similar image from the Karfagan facebook page here a couple of days ago (the URL signature for that link has now expired). Here it is again, but as a post rather than just an image, so it shouldn't expire again: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=668862551911589&set=a.500196862111493. It's too grainy to read the actual lettering, but you can clearly see the headers for the bonus tracks on both CDs.

It doesn't seem that Antony made this very clear when he sent the info to the various sites who were going to be selling the CDs, and compared to the pre-release version that originally existed on Bandcamp (& is still showing on Proggnosis), several more tracks could be viewed as 'bonuses'.

Looks like one more update is needed after all Julien (or Eugene).

Hopefully we can then put this one to bed, and hope it sleeps for a long long time! Pinch

Edit: If it were my site, I'd alter the title of the LTD Edition 2CD package back to what it is on Bandcamp, what the package actually is, and what everyone else (except Antony Kalugin it seems lol!) is calling it: "Passage to the Forest of Mysterious" & "Birds" (the quotes probably aren't important, since they don't seem to be being used elsewhere).

As for the track listing, after altering the title as above,  I'd not call CD2 a bonus, since it is the new 'Birds' album in its entirety, so:

CD1 - "Passage to the Forest of Mysterious":
1. Kingfisher and Dragonflies (Part 4) (3:01)
2. Mysterious Forest (Part 1) - World in a Grain of Sand (14:03)
3. Mysterious Forest (Part 2) - The Ominous Ride (4:21)
4. To Those Who Dwell in Realms of Day (2:18)
5. Birds of Passage and the Enchanted Forest (19:02)
6. Through the Whispers of the Wind (1:38)
7. Mysterious Forest (Part 3) - World in a Grain of Sand Reprise (4:15)
- Bonus Track:
8. Birds of Passage and the Enchanted Forest (single version) (9:59)

Total Time 58:37

CD2 - "Birds":
1. Birds (Part 1) (22:08)
2. Birds Piano Intermezzo (1:14)
3. Birds (Part 2) (7:09)
4. Birds (Part 3) (18:40)
- Bonus Tracks:
5. The Day Is Done (2023 remastered version) (4:48)
6. Birds Short Introduction (3:20)

Total Time 57:19

And then that's how I'd leave it until Antony gets all his various retail outlets to change the title of the package as well (including Bandcamp), or he makes a strong protest about it to our admins!

But I'm just a yam yam from the heart of the Black Country, who eats 'gray pays' for breakfast and drinks warm, flat beer lol! LOL

You're right! Embarrassed
Sure, he's right. And you're right. But Mayer and Antony are also right:

"title is -

PASSAGE TO THE FOREST OF MYSTERIOUS

(no Birds)
please exclude 2nd cd track titles - as they are for BIRDS album"

I guess I'm right too:

"I don't think we need to specify bonus tracks on the Passage album. On CD 1, the "single version" mention is equivalent to "bonus track". On CD 2, bonus tracks on a bonus disc is absurd."

The page looks better as it is now.

Eugene can look at this and have another view on this.

... and he'll be right too !!! LOL
