Listen... I am Italian and grew up with De André and Branduardi, therefore I know their music very well. This means I would be totally AGAINST De André's addition - while I supported Branduardi's. I don't mean to sound confrontational, but someone who was born in Italy in 1960 and grew up listening to that music is bound to know something about it, don't you think?

Clear. Only Italians born in Italy in 1960 know who of these artists are prog and who not.

no... I am not Italian.. and well... I was born slightly earlier than that hahhahha
however... where you f**ked up brother is paying attention to labels and tags. Both De Andre and Branduardi are listed as singer-songwriters.
however.. the genre teams.. . the good ones at least don't have the time to be troubled with bullsh*t like that.
We listen to De Andre.. we listen to Branduardi. One is prog... the other is not. Simple as that. One is listed on other reference sites to Italian prog.. the other isn't. When you have problems is telling those who know that distinction ... that they don't know what they are doing. That is what I read in the obvious cynicism of your first post.. and outright smartassery of the second post. Take it for what you want. We don't play the tags and labels game here. It is a music site.. we evaluate on the music.

OK, micky, let's forget both - Raffaella's harsh tone and my "outright smartassery ".
In fact I don't care much about labels and tags.
Though it seems to me there exists a problem of interaction between different PA teams, a kind of bureaucracy. As we see in our example, it was easier for RPI team to include an artist in their own section than to prove something to other team. Not a biggest problem in the world, but it takes place. If we, collabs and non-collabs, are building one of the greatest prog-sites ever, such things should be taken into account too.

 Peace it is hahahha I see where you coming from though... Each team is pretty much free to as it wishes. The site places a certain trust in each of the teams... there is stuff we could add that might make the damn Wiggles sound like King Crimson in comparison and no one would know it. That is why additions are limited to Special Collabs only. The site is the greatest site ever because we have such a diverse membership all with dfferent views of prog.. and the site for the most part takes those views into account. There is something here for all prog fans not a specific notion of prog. That is the beauty.. and the strength of the site.

For sure it's not the biggest problem in the world but perhaps it's one of biggest problems on this site

A radical avant prog band delivering strange free-form collective pieces. A cross between Morton Feldman, Steve Reich, John Cage and the cream of "Rock in opposition"

I am very sorry about sounding harsh yesterday evening. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling very well, and I haven't for some times (too much on my plate lately, I suppose) - and when things are like that I am bound to become more aggressive than usual.
Moreover, I think I didn't make my point adequately. It's not just a question of having been born in a given place and a given year - it's more a question of having an intimate acquaintance with the music, which results in my being able to detect differences between two artists that may superficially be seen as similar, as in the case of De André and Branduardi.
As I may have said on past occasions, I was against the addition of Ivano Fossati because his relation to prog was extremely tenuous, and the same happened in the case of I Pooh. However, in RPI there are bands who only recorded one prog album (namely, Dik Dik, I Giganti and I Califfi), and the rest of whose output has very little if anything to do with our favourite genre. On the other hand, Branduardi has at least five albums which could be defined as progressive - as the Bible, aka Italianprog.com, points out in its entry on the artist. He is definitely more than simply prog-related, and deserves to be featured here. At first I suggested Prog-Folk, but the problem discussed above made us think that adding him to ISP (which is a misnomer) was the easiest way.

Well, Ryan, perhaps you don't know the story behind the album (which is great btw)... It was my very first prog album, bought at the age of 11 - and our mutual love of prog was what made it possible for us to meet here, against all odds. I'd like to review it too... It's high time I reviewed something Italian!

Yeah Raffa, we are in bad need of your commentary on the lyrics, since guys like me have no clue!! (Pholas Dactylus, etc) It would be very fun to hear your thoughts on the lyrical side of Italian benchmark albums.

hahah... it is something special... and I don't give many 5 stars since I have tended to stay away from the albums that ARE 5 star albums.. preferring to spotlight the lesser known and less defining. More to spotlight great albums I guess. Nostos really is the only one that isn't consistent.. and may well drop that album's rating. Not my personal rating .. but for the site as I do more and more reviews.
