They sound really inspired here, and the guitar and violin do not get in the way of the electronics, in my opinion. Too bad we won't be hear more from him Cry

No, Oakland is up by San Francisco but that looks like it would be a great show.
BTW...I received my copy of Mammatus 2xLP on clear vinyl.  Thumbs Up
Also..you might want to check out the Joseph Magazine album I'm listening to now.
The full album is on YouTube. It's worth a listen.

I know Oakland is in California, but I forget it's a really big state Tongue
That's cool! I'd like to have it too, but it costs almost 50€ with shipping costs included Stern Smile
OK, I'll check them out later.

^ Yeah, Cal is a big state but one third of it's population is in L.A. County. Crazy, huh?  Wacko
I have the same shipping problem when I order outside the US.
The other day I paid $10 shipping for a $5 CD but that's okay because $15 total for a good CD is a good deal.

^ It's about the same proportion of people that live in Lisbon. No wonder all the Prog concerts happen there.
I never bought CD's individually from the US, it's never worth it that way Ermm

For someone who isn't much into Floyd, you sure play them a lot Tongue
What do you think of the new albums from Magma and Zombi?
I'm trying to like them. Tongue Seriously though, I'm slowly but surely coming around to Floyd's experimental early face (pre Dark Side, or pre Dark Ages as I've started calling it LOL).

Loved the new Magma, and the new Zombi's very good as well, I thought. Both are bands I wish I was more aqcuainted with, but that won't stop me from enjoying and applauding their latest releases. Clap Both are in my top 20 as I'm writing this. Thumbs Up

I've been enjoying the pre Dark Ages more than the classic ones lately. I wasn't into it not long ago, but I listen to much weirder Psych stuff nowadays Wink

That's great! Sometimes a brand new album is a good reason to discover artists Smile I'll give Sl*g Tanz another listen to know where I'll place it, there's a lot of great albums that won't be on my top 20 Ermm

What did you think of it?

Today:
Unit Wail - Beyond Space Edges
Surya Exp Duo - Trigunam
Wolfgang Reichmann - Wunderbar
Peak - Ebondazzar
Peste & Sida - Portem-se Bem

What do you think of that Unit Wail one, Sam? I think it's very good, I just wish there were more longer tracks. Most of them are little three-minute spasms! The bass playing alone is incredible, some of the best all year to my ears.

I'll be posting a very positive review, just as soon as I find out who did all the artwork on the cover and in the booklet! I can't for the life of me work out from the details included, unless it's right in front of me and I'm simply oblivious! I wrote to them on FB to hopefully find out!

Catching up on the this thread for the last week and a bit, it's funny to hear about Dave's (Guldbamsen) wacky time management adventures and Adun listening to a metric-ton of Floyd...for a guy who is on the fence about them. ;)

This weekend ( dec 12th)

Threshold-- European journey ( live album of the year? You bet. ;)
APP-- vulture culture
Rush-- hold your fire
Swallow the sun-- songs from the north (1,2&3)
Massive attack-- mezzanine
Iron maiden-- the book of souls
Fear factory-- hate files
Depeche mode-- remixes (1981-2004) disc 3 only
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Not much to say after one listen but I agree, the bass is awesome Clap I think the drums could be more on foreground Ermm

Today:
Unreal City - Il Paese Del Tramonto (The shortest 70 minute album ever Big smile)
Tantra - Holocausto (Much better than their previous album, but I wish it would be intrumental: the vocals and the cheesy fantasy lyrics are awful Dead)
Hawkwind - Levitation (A bit strange for someone who never listened to anything after Warrior, but it's quite good, it's Space New Wave Tongue)
Big Red Panda - Grand Orbiter

Sunday 13th December:

Roz Vitalis - Lavoro D'Amore

Rush - A Farewell to Kings
Rush - All the World's A Stage
Rush - Signals

And Lo, sadly comes the day, where I work out once and for all that I will never buy another single Rush album. Clearly they are the sort of band where you're either in with them, and by in I mean absolutely mad about pretty much everything they do, or not in, where you're left scratching your head trying to work out what the fuss is.

Sadly for me, technically skilled musicians aside, the proggier albums have the screeching unbearable vocals, then the later ones have calmer vocals but more streamlined and less interesting music with barely any instrumental breaks.

I've tried for years to `force myself' to really dig them, but it's time to give up. `2112' is the closest one I really like from them, so probably that will be the sole one I enjoy.

Best to leave the band to those who really do feel so passionate about them.

I recommend Cain's Offering - Stormcrow if you liked this (it's a side project of the vocalist of Stratovarius).

It was very well done with a good solid sound. I didn't know they had so many albums out so I'll probably work backwards and check out a few more.
I'll listen to Cain's Offering later on today.
