Though they originally played post-punk and new wave, the group came to be influenced by European and Central Asian folk music, avant-garde jazz, the poetry of Russian futurist Velimir Khlebnikov, and aspects of Russian high culture and literature.

I find Haino's work slightly frustrating. On every album of his I've heard there is some brilliant stuff, but then there is also an obligatory bit where it's just his wailing over minimal guitar chords/strikes and it just suffocates under it and kills any momentum the song/album has.

I don't like Haino solo as good as Fush*tsusha. Haino's solo stuff is really suffocating in general, though.

Yeah, I can understand that. But some of his collaborations really hit the sweet spot (not really solo admittedly). The trio with Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi is filled with awesome as is his works with Yoshida Tatsuya.

all I heard from him really were I Said, I Am The Son of Nihilism, some years ago, and some live hurdy-gurdy improv which was pretty nice

Can't say I've heard that one, but that is a classic Haino title alright.

Now if your eyes get crossed while you are masturbating then you will likely drown if you try to swim afterwards.
