I've actually heard that comparison before.  I guess I can see it as they are both concept albums with pessimistic views of humanity, and some spacey and ethereal moments.  Both are also considered to be the greatest albums of all time, but I think that the bands' more proggier and experimental releases to be better.

Yeah... Not progressive, and NOT AVANT-GARDE! Is he unable to hear?
Shisspa is their best, good pick Smile

I'm going to listen to Andrew WK's Close Calls With Brick Walls album to see if I can even slightly hear the Zappa similarity or any reason why he has been suggested.

Its actually WK, Gabe

Up to the 5th track, and its not prog, interesting, clever or avant even in the slightest imo.

I bet I'll enjoy Depeche Mode more. The lyrics are almost as much fun to quote as Kraftwerk.

I'm sure you're right. I checked the MySpace. Poor stuff...
Not interesting at all, to me.

Even Henry says it's not avant, it must be true.

Well, there are tacky keyboards....

As I said in the other thread, a while ago I saw a post somewhere else about him, and all the fans of him were berating the haters for not being able to accept the unironic desire to party and they're just cynical and pretentious and doesn't your life have any sunshine and you probably read Pitchfork you t**t. But Cadillac is in fact a serious of classical-esque piano songs, so it seems that I was right in assuming that nobody could be that stupid and cheerful!
