Obama's got to hand his Nobel Peace Prize back.

Nope, Obama has actually done the right thing. To be honest, all the UN needs to do is ensure the ceasefire and get talks underway. The UN blazing in to Libya like Kosovo will only end badly for all parties.

Indeed, I should have gotten it.  I've never attacked anyone (except for slapping a guy at school).

Exactly.  This is why I'm left-wing and Socialist.  Yey.

But anyhow...

I wonder what Australia would do?

Oh yeah, have another tinny.

Gaddafi may be on a dead-end but me thinks he won't be very flexible during negotiation.

He'll squirm his way out for as long as he can.

Perhaps he'll do a bin-Laden...

Ben, I would agree with you, but he seems to be reneging on the cease fire already and very obviously. I don't understand what his end-game is, but he doesn't seem to be able help himself.

Josh, you completely won the trusting the government thread.

He'll only be flexible if the UN decides to show Libya what strategic bombing can do. And they won't do that unless the ceasefire breaks down. So it's in his best interest to keep the ceasefire going. As long as he does, the UN can't do much beyond the usual toothless legal measures. In terms of overthrowing Gaddafi, the UN wants him to break the ceasefire, but this also means that they want him to (attempt) kill people. Which is a major dichotomy in ethical thought.

I haven't seen the latest news, so I'm a little out-of-the-loop. But I'll hear about it all week, given I'm taking papers which deal with International Conflict etc.

That's not what I meant. LOL

I meant maybe he'll remain elusive and go into hiding and yet still govern from there.  We don't need another situation like Afghanistan where we're just not making any difference.

Oh and lulz, apparently today's military action is on the anniversary of the day military action started the Gulf War in 2003.  Nice timing guys. LOL

Hence my posts. I didn't know you weren't following the news closely though.

Ewww, you'll catch something sleeping with homeless people, Ben. Wink

No luck yet then?  Any idea how long it'll be 'til you have somewhere sorted?

No I meant it's hard for me to keep up with the (faster paced) news because I have no TV/net connection where I'm staying.
