You don't get this concept of cost/sales/profit, do you ?    

Why should we give up something that actually makes a big profit for our three kingdoms ? When are you Americans giving up producing Coca Cola, Microsoft operating systems, airplanes and all other profit making products ? Stop criticising us for making profits and income for our country as long as you are commiting the same sin. 

Edit: To elaborate on this. A lot of tourists visiting Great Britain and a some British products sold abroad is directly linked to the presence of the royal family. Buckingham Palace is tourist destination # 1. Other residences like Balmoral, Winsdor and Sandringham also creates a lot of revenue. The royals is some of the most famous persons in this world. They use their status to generate sales for British businesses around the world. Their presence are indeed deal clinchers for many British businesses abroad. 

When it comes to "lazy layabouts", you are off course referring to the US presidents and their family which in truth is lazy layabouts compared to the British royal family. The British royals work hard. Very hard. Almost all of it not reported by the media. One of them even went to war in Afghanistan and saw action in several battles. William, the groom, is saving lives every week as a rescue helicopter pilot. Some of your presidents hardly worked for a long time without pausing for vacations. Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin D Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Bush Jr springs to mind. Their holidays was extensive, to say at least. 

The revenue of today's advert is far outstripping the costs in the next 25 years. It is a marketing man's dream. I don't think this advert for US politics and society will generate any income to your tourism industry and manufacturing.
