This would be more aptly named as an eclectic test, but interesting nonetheless.

Mine is almost exactly like yours. Guess I'm proud as well! Couldn't care less as long as I listen to what I love. "Open-mindedness" would be more accurate described by "you try everything at least once, and respect other peoples taste". That's what I consider important anyway.

I'd probably be worse: I think I'd come to about 75% prog, 10% classical, 10% rock/pop and 5% others (this is being optimistic :p). The issue with calling that not 'open-minded' is that the progressive music I listen to will have influences, features and styles incorporated from a *lot* of other genres and often sound *nothing alike*.
Compare Islands to Pictures At An Exhibition (Live from Works Live). I'll listen to and love both, but I'd find it hard to point out any direct relationship between them.

Hm. I don't know about me. You'd have some Blues Rock (probably labelled Blues), a tad of Sam Cooke or Sinatra or something like that, a little world, a couple of Prog things that'd get called 'other' for no apparent reason.
Should sign up to Last.fm, sometime.
Question: does it only work on things you play on ye 'computer', since I listen mostly to CDs on a CD player or MP3s on the MP3 majiggy, so?

I think there's some kind of add-on that enables tracking what you listen to in your I-Pod. But I don't know...

Absurd.

This is an interesting point which I have often thought about. The more genres someone listens to the more likely some people could assume that the person has an "undefined" taste. Of course this is wrong ... it might be undefined, it might be carefully chosen, there's no way to tell just from the list of genres.

I've always believed the scientific finding that the wider a person musical tastes are, the more intelligent they are. I wasn't sure about this being true, until I tried it on my own self. They match !

I have no need for a last.fm diagram. Simply put I like good music, and have an open-mind for the same. What's left of my mind, anyway. Or at least that's how I explain my opinion of Nickelback and Krautrock

I think I have an open mind for music and listen to some really different bands and artist. The only thing I simply cannot understand is why it is mostly tagged "progressive rock" and "metal".
It is funny to see how people have an open-mind index of 1XX with tags like "black metal" "death metal" "thrash metal" and so on, as "rap" "hip-hop" "american hip hop" "deutschrap"..
Let's face it: 40% progressive rock means 5% symhponic prog, 2% progressive electronic, 3% prog folk, 4% eclectic etc.

I am impressed James. Also, which color scheme did you choose? I really like it.

Here's the updated version (it hasn't changed all that much though):
It's not all that accurate imo, but I suppose it gives some insight to my listening habits. I seriously need to listen to more prog though, this is getting out of hand.

The second one down in the list, something Light. Well it's the same as the last one I posted... yet I've played stuff since then, I guess it hasn't been finalised yet. I think last.fm do that on Sundays. Well I like a lot of different genres. It's a bit inaccurate though, Aaron, as it doesn't indicate Zeuhl as a genre (it's probably under the 30% Other).
