Your Last 3 Prog concerts and your pendin

You guys in Europe are  lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky ducks. Guru Guru has to be one of my all time favourite bands and have NEVER got to see them. I was lucky enough to see Grobschnitt, though. I didn`t even know that Hoelderlin was still going.

Here in Montreal the music scene has gone to the dogs since the seventies and even our jazz festival sucks. Back in the seventies we had homegrown Quebec bands like Octobre, Harmonium and Maniege . We also had  UZEB & Le Band later on in the 80`s & 90s which fortunately I have seen a number of times  although they were more popular in Europe. The last show I saw was Black Sabbath , oh sorry, Heaven & Hell with Dio and even though it was a great show with a very enthusiastic audience the Bell Canada Centre was only partially filled. People are just not enthusiastic about class acts anymore and all we get are the heavy hitters Roger Waters, Madonna, Rush etc. Birelli Lagrene is probably the only  "real" show I`ll see this year. I stopped going to the Montréal Communist Jazz Festival two summers ago because the ticket prices are through the roof and they almost strip search you before getting to see the supposed "free" shows.

So, I saw many great musicians and singers since three years.   Porcupine Tree is coming next month and it's not expensive at all. Loreena McKennit was at La Place Des Arts last week. ( we were too late to have tickets for this show of world beat music...).   I know that if you only read La Presse, and the big newspapers, it's seems that nothing interesting is happening here, (e xcept maybe about Arcade Fire). Journalists around the city seems to  know nothing about music, and they just go to concerts that are for 12 to 15 years old children ( Madonna, Fall Out Boys, etc...).    Nothing to read about the concerts that I attended so far in these news papers.   There is certainly something for you, but you have to search for them.

I guess what I sort of meant that back in the late seventies and early eighties there were better bands ( for me that is ) and they were always coming here and being promoted by the media. I never pick up the Mirror or Hour because I guess I`m just not into that hippie crap ( no offense intended). Ronnie James Dio said the same thing as you in an interview about the media having minds like adolescents as far as music is concerned.
