Frances the mute is good... but is not the best....

Deadwing, Ghost Reveries and Aerial are better than Frances

Anyways,that gets my vote

I apologize, I meant to put that in, I had been wondering why it wasn't included in the first.  I don't know why I forgot it I just did/

I take back my apologies, after reading all the posts of where's ____ fill it in.  Just a bunch of complainers there's only so many slots to fill.  Create your own poll if you don't like this one that's why this one exists anyway.

Ghost reveries,Deadwing,Second life syndrome and those albums have all some things in common...they are very unoriginal and they are fairly non complex...so im not surprised that these albums gets so many votes by fans that can not deal with "proper" progressive rock

Van der Graaf Generator.

Songs like Every Bloody Emperor and Nutter Alert are the living proof that Van der Graaf is back!

I voted for Glass Hammer's Inconsolable Secret. Deadwing is a nice record,
but it's not really prog. Francis the Mute, IMHO, is a mess. Their first record
was better to my ears.

I also enjoy the latest Riverside record and agree that Ghost Reveries should
be on the list. A very strong album.

Frances the Mute is not a mess...especially for those that happen to try it more than one time...I HATED the hell out of it the first time I heard it...now it's my favorite album (or one of my favorite a;bums)...really...for me there is no competition as to which album is the best up there. I reccomend giving Frances a try AS or after you research the album's "story". It enhances the album by tenfold when you actually know what it's about. Check here for like 5000000 theories, all of which are well thought out and analyzed...also I reccomend listening to the ENTIRE album...never just a song off of the album, but I still greatly understand if and why people don't like it. I'm just trying to help those that would like to like it.

I've given it quite a few spins over the months. I like parts of it quite a bit,
but then there are parts that drive me nuts. It's true I haven't spent much
time with the story. I'll give it another go.

I love the cover

I got Octavarium, Frances The Mute, and Deadwing... and out of those i think that Octavarium is the best, then Deadwing, then FTM.

Can't claim to have heard them all!! But I think Frances the Mute gets my vote. Radical, challenging, ambitious, tuneful, tuneless, annoying, exhilarating....as king volta says, you've got to listen to the whole thing!!

From that list "Deadwing" by Porcupine Tree, with second best "Second Life Syndrome" by Riverside. Would have voted for "Ghost Reveries", but it's not there.

My real favourite album of the year has to be "This Godless Endeavor" by Nevermore. What an asskick of an album!
