There goes my vote.

dog  (the blues instrumentation isn't that bad)

Meddle is the album that usually gets praised for having the best song, and criticized for having the worst song of the band ... at least by me.

I totally disagree.  Isn't one of the key components of prog experimentation?  How can you get more experimental than that?

IMO a lot of interesting work went into that dog part in Seamus.  You can hear that the dog parts are often in rhythm, and there's one amazing part where the dog sound changes perfectly with the chord change.

Without the dog, it's a pretty cool mellow blues tune.  Very simple and basic, but some nice low-key instrumentals.  Not a giant of a song, but pretty cool.

In fact, one of the reasons I love Meddle is because they mess around with so many interesting styles.  I enjoy the diversity of the album.

I'll defend Ummagumma till' I die, my favorite Pink Floyd album.

It's Prog, Prog, PROG!

Live album is my favorite album from Pink Floyd, and the studio is like an added bonus.

I'm a big avant garde fan so I naturally like Rick, and Nick's songs. I don't think Nick ever did so much in an album, and this song is very smart and unpredictable. I love Rick's song also, the most avant garde of the whole album, and I can perfectly see Sysyphus rolling that rock up the hill, then it falling down, got it just right when it came to making a story into a song. I happen to love ancient Greek mythology and also. Roger shows some genius with his two songs. One is completely normal, and relaxing with nice sound effects for that time period. He very wisely puts a complete oposite of a song next to it, conecting the two with a fly being swated. Several species is a real achievment of the time and is the most entertaining to me on the whole album.
Dave's songs are great and forshadow many other songs to come, I can especially see hint's of Echoes.

These are reasons I found for enjoying the studio album with seems to give most a problem, if you don't like the live album I feel very sorry for you then. The studio may seem very basic and non-atmospheric unlike all the other great Floyd albums, just give it time and you will find you don't need all that to enjoy this album, just enjoy it for being Ummagumma, the strangest, most creative album in the 60's and my favorite Pink Floyd album.

How can you not like Sheep?!It is absolutely amazing!!!

Anyway,I'm not so keen to the first part in Bike,as I am in the second. In fact the first part is a bit off my preferences:

I've got a bike you can blablabla

but then comes the second part which is great, because it goes into the armonical sounds that are specific to Pink Floyd at that phase...

Vegetable man, I know it's by the Venerable Syd Barrett, but it's still awful.

I know everything from Pink Floyd beginning with Piper and ending at The wall and the worst song I know from all these albums is definitely The grandvizier's garden party, no doubt about it. But I am also not very fond of Interstellar overdrive (the middle part) and A saucerful of secrets (except for the ending which is very good, especially the live version where it turns from crap that sounds like hell (0/10) into something that is so beautiful that it sounds like heaven (10/10, 6:13-7:11) ...the beginning from ASoS live version (0:00-1:38) is OK).

As for Sheep (9/10), Summer '68 (10/10) and Bike (9/10)......I am not going to say I do not like these songs just for fun...

Hey All: First post here, just like to say you've all got yourself a damn nice place.

I only know Floyd from Dark Side onwards, (excluding that found on Echoes) however, I'd have to say The Final Cut, the whole album. From the masterpeice that is The Wall (I've been listening to it for 15 years and loving every second) to the traversty that is The Final Cut...it's just painful.

By the way: All you who said any song from The Wall may kiss my ass.
