I'm surprised to see Roy Orbison at only 3 octaves.

He was just really good with those three.

vocal range doesn't mean much if your voice doesn't sound good

I wouldn't mind having a slightly bigger vocal range.  For one of our songs (Shark Jackets), I sing a high harmony vocal, and Jack sings lead.  Sometime after we recorded the song, Jack decided to transpose the song up a whole step to better suit his range; but now the high harmony vocal is clawing at the ceiling of the range of notes I can hit.  Dammit Jack.

I remember reading that James LaBrie could sing 5 octaves, but they only list him at 3.  I wonder if that is post throat problems.

I suspect that I can't sing any octaves.

my post-tax season mid-life crisis is in full swing again this year.  No desire to work.  No motivation to work.  No motivation to work out.  I just want to take the summer off and enjoy life.  No true desire to look for a new job.  I sent out a couple of resumes but didn't hear back on anything.  It is so tempting to walk away from my job to get a job as a record store clerk, doing something that I think that I would enjoy, and get paid diddly squat plus worry about job security because it is a dying industry for which who knows how long the records stores will continue to exist.
