I was originally going to do Spanish since I had it in HS but I wasnt allowed to start at 1..
Since its been a few years  I was not going to attempt starting at level 3.
Thought about Italian but figured German would be easier.

Nope. Most people graduate from high school here at 18 (I did at 17 but I skipped a year of grade school and my high school required me to skip 1-2 years). After that you don't have to go to college if you don't want to.

My friend took German all 4 years in high school, but she has a glossary of 36 pages worth of vocabulary in the back of her book. The professor told her class that they should be expected to know all of it, and she said she doesn't recognize about half the words. Oh, and it's apparently in font size 10 or so, so that doesn't help.
