The last thing anyone needs in their minds during sexy time is Christian Vander.

Because that's the same argument you all make.
"It's proficient, reliable and the best choice". Meh, I've heard it all before. |

They wouldn't have his picture on. Just the Magma logo. |

Plus radiation is so awesome. I'm against it though; the Brazillian government wants to install nuclear plants near my state and dump the trash in the outback. And, as our government isn't the best (lots of money directed at the nuclear energy program will end in the politicians' pockets), the result will be poorly managed storage of the radioactive material. Thankfully I'll live somewhere in a (nuclear-plants free) country in Europe or maybe Canda after I'm done with uni.

Saying it's better is not an argument; I didn't make any argument in favour of it. |

When I think of the Magma logo I think of CV. And when I think of CV, the image of his goddamnitishewearingafurshirt arms appear. |

The time I was in a Facebook group and we chatted with Misha Mansoor from Periphery, we were talking about their merch and how they seem to have Periphery-brand everything. Then we got joking about Periphery condoms and Misha says, yeah, that'd be cool and all, but they'd never get used because Periphery fans don't get laid

I'm not in favour of nucleat plants either, when they're done by people whose intentions, competence and reliability cannot be controlled perfectly. Ambitious developing countries or authoritarian states are not ones I'd trust with nuclear issues. And James is welcome to come with a better alternative to fossile and nuclear energy, I'd be the first to embrace it. |

We have a couple of plants.
Based on how sucky our roads, bridges (and every infrastructure basically) are, and based on how much corruption there is in the construction sector, I'd say move as far, far away as you can from any nuclear plant in Canada (well, it's probably in my province that it's really, really bad). Oh, and farmers in the town next to one plant in particular (my extended family lives there) complain that they have more and more animals are born with malformations, but that the government is doing its damnest best to keep it quiet. |

You hit the nail on the head. We have the biggest hidropower potential of the world, yet the country still wants to build nuclear plants for a purely diplomatic reason: showing off that we dominate nuclear energy (and the ability to make atomic bombs), therefore ensuring us a permanent seat at the UN Security Counsil and more power at decisions. edit: sh*t, I just realised I might be good enough to pursue a career as a diplomat.

^ But isn't hydro-energy also bad for the local ecosystem? I think Caio and James were talking about this a few days ago but I can't remember what the conclusion was.

Yes, it is, but the hydroelectric plants we have are (good) enough to power the whole country; we even sell the energy to Uruguay.

It's bad because they usually have to flood lands to do it. Forest, Native reserves, farm lands... anything can go. |
