I tend to think Hendrix's "coolness" or attitude really was vastly over played by the media.
To me, Gilmour is just easily a better player, but because his face isn't on every cover of a guitar magazine, people have you think otherwise.

Having seen a lot of video of him, I'm pretty sure he truly had attitude and was cool.

I won't argue about Gilmour being better than Hendrix cause he most certainly is. I like Hendrix's randomness and craziness a lot more though. His sound is so messy and trashy. I like that.
