It's all good. I don't know all the etymology, just that English is borrowed from a ton of languages, and that its closely related to German.

I was surprised how similar they really are when I took German.
Which of course came from Scandinavia but English is nothing like those languages LOL

Not particularly, watched it with a friend. It was actually really entertaining.

Has anyone here seen Thaw? Watching it now, really really bad horror movie about insects from global warming.

nah it is a bit more complicated then that  Tongue, just look at the timline of the different emigration roots to the Brittish Isles, first came the celts for 30 000 years ago with their culture and stuff, then came the Romans, then came the might Anglo-Saxen tribes from Germani, so yes they spoke what is called proto-germanic, which vere spoken on everycorner in north europe, all understood eachoter for 2000-3000 eyars ago the proto-germanic evolved to old-english which inicated that English is a Germanic language first and formost, later came the Jutes, from the Danish island of Jylland, and then the Vikings stroke at 793 at the monister at Lindesfarne from Norway. they and the Danes dominated the british isles from 700 to 1048 with the batle of Stamfrod Bridge where the Norwegian king Harald Haarade was beeten by William the Concurar, of Normandie which was a pre-viking settlement which had ben frenchiloficed and well its a long story

first the Celtic dominated Europe

“Yes, well I’ve been continuously writing solo stuff although I haven’t yet got a plan. You tend to need something that unifies all the different elements and I haven’t quite got that yet but I’ve been working on various ideas. I have actually been collaborating with an Italian musician called Eraldo Bernocchi and I guess we’re about half way through an album together, with a drummer and a keyboard player involved as well. The idea is to do a live band but we’re still doing the recording at the moment and it’s interesting stuff. There are elements of metal, elements of dub and it’s quite heavy in places. It’s instrumental but it is something that I feel would be quite good live and that’s the focus that we have with it and there are no vocals at the moment. It should be quite an interesting line up. It’s me on bass, Eraldo Bernocchi on guitar and electronics, we have a drummer from Hungary called Balázs Pándi who is in a band called Merzbow and does lots of very noisy stuff, and there’s a keyboard player from America called Jamie Saft who does all kinds of things, if you go to his website he’s done very quiet piano stuff, he’s done lots of stuff with John Zorn. So we’re in the process of getting that together and it’s something that I started off earlier this year. We’ve wanted to work together for a long time, myself and Eraldo. You never really know when you work with someone for the first time if it’s going to work but I’ve been over to Italy quite a few times to work on some stuff and it seems to be coming together quite quickly, so fingers crossed we’ll have an album out late this year or early next year.”

Ah yes, I love history Agi!

Like I said, its a mix of many...but the bulk of it originated from Scandinavia. Also you guys trashed the Roman Empire, then came the Vikings to trash the new areas growing from the remains, and were first to reach the "New World"

It's why you all win at life.

They've done two collab albums so far. They're okay. Pandi basically just does blast beats, but I've not heard him playing with anyone else yet.

Oh man, this is so embarrassing. Look how w**ky Satriani and Vai are while Fripp, the composer, sits in the background chilling in sophistication.
