Just because I knew it would give Pat a huge LOL, I stopped at Best Buy on my way home and I am now the proud owner of the new DT and the new Primus, as well as the new Anthrax.  They were sold out of the new Alice Cooper and didn't have the new Opeth.

I'm listening to the new Dream Theater album right now, and I'm convinced that it's just elaborate and flamboyant nu-metal. I liked the new Primus album, but it's a bit light compared to their other albums, and seems kind of like a solo Claypool album. I haven't heard the new Anthrax or Opeth albums yet.

Edit: I feel like a douche because nobody asked for my opinion, but I have nothing else to talk about even though I've been consistently lurking all day.

New DT sounds like Marillion with more distortion.  I really don't know why it is so popular around here.

You dont count Colin you're fav DT is the original f**king album, and we know that can't be for srs Tongue

Though I do agree. After listening a few times the new DT is just being pushed by the cult fans as always. It's not that good. If you listen with unbiased ears it's just...decent. As usual it has the highs and lows of a roller coaster.

Bridges in the Sky has that intro with the drone singing, its a cool idea but poorly done. It sounds so horrid.

New anthrax? Well, Megadeth Metallica and Slayer all had great comeback albums....maybe they'll complete the big four, though I have the least faith lol

The new album didn't impressed me at all. It is as good as Falling Into Infinity at best.

That's how i feel. I rarely listened to DT until the big hype over this album made me re-evaluate their albums.

At the moment, DTOE gets a 3.5. I like Labrie's vocals a lot more than normal (except Build Me Up, Break Me Down....). The drumming has improved, and i enjoy all the non-epics on the album (once again except for Build Me Up). The longer tracks are hit or miss for me.

I also wish the artwork wasn't a complete joke.

I take back what I said about the new Anthrax album; it's only alright. I've never been a huge Anthrax fan anyway.

I simply gave up on Anthrax. They haven't released any decent album since Persistence of time and they have been milking that period between Fistuf of Metal and Persistence as much as they can.
