hmmm. the one Area song I just listened to is nice, but it doesn't really seem to be my thing, and I'm not fond of the female spoken vocal thing in the beginning, but I've been wrong before.

yes, they're very good. I don't know much post punk or new wave, just JD, XTC, and Talking Heads- all of whom I love, so I should probably explore that scene a bit more.

As far as I know that's the only song with the female intro, she's not a member of the band.

Wow. Souls at Zero is one of the best experimental hardcore/metal(ish) albums I've ever heard.
all I have is Given to the Rising, whose title track is amazing, but I never listened to the other tracks much.
I have Souls at Zero, Through Silver in Blood, and Enemy of the Sun. I've heard that their more recent stuff has more acoustic influences though, so I'll have to check that out eventually.
But of those 3, I'd say Through Silver in Blood is my favorite. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuv the tribal drums.

if so, then Drum's Not Dead by Liars is your best bet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlgzO-uTXus
