Wow, the dialogue in Ellery Queen is even worse than the dialogue in my own short stories. LOL

This is what wikiepedia has to say about zouk:
"Zouk is a style of rhythmic music originating from the islands of Guadeloupe, Martinique and the former French colony of Haiti. Zouk means "party" or "festival" in the local creole of French with English influences. In Africa, it is popular in franco/luso countries, while on the African islands of Cape Verde they have developed their own type of zouk. In Europe it is particularly popular in France, and in North America the Canadian province of Quebec." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zouk

No it's not!

Yeah, that's true. I'm not sure how cold it's getting over here tonight... probably 22 or so.

Wait, I clearly read "progressive, ghettotech, zouk" on that page.

Am I listening to the right band?

There was a scene in Ellery Queen where Ellery went to visit this sculpter who just happened to be sculpting a nude female (the sculpter was a British woman) and well, she had a model with her.  Once she was done, the now not-nude lass gave her number out for the benefit of Ellery Queen.  However, if it wasn't obvious enough it was meant for him, the sculpter then had to tell us it was for his benefit!

There's only one band with that name and the link you gave me was for the correct band (they're actually on my friends list on MySpace)... but I didn't read any of those genres in their description, except for Progressive.

Their influences are perfect though:

Influences: Magma, This Heat, John Coltrane, King Crimson, Ornette Coleman, Polvo, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Derek Bailey, the Ruins, Nels Cline Trio, Albert Marcoueur, Van Halen, Fredrik Thodenal's Special Defect, Necrophagist, Don Caballero, Harry Pussy, Faust, Neu!!, Cardiacs, Takemura, US Maple, Henry Cow. This list could be so long and stupid and so detailed that you thought I was just making sh*t up. These are some essentials and that's more than enough.

I never said 22 was that cold, just that it is getting that cold tonight.

I love the winter. Big smile

Alex needs some Upsilon Acrux in his system, they're a great band and influenced by Magma, Henry Cow and Zappa.

Yet they sound nothing like any of them.

Anyway, I liked the song they have there, but I'm not in love yet. I think I'm feeling more psychedelic than progressive tonight. I'm playing "The Seeds radio" on last.fm, maybe something I haven't heard will turn up.

I'd love to find a great vocalist though. I'm very into those low, deep (almost gravel like) voices, like good old Stuart A. Staples, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. Seems no new guys sing like that anymore. Pity.
