128 kbps is acceptable but I'd much prefer 320 kbps minimum. Personal choice though. I'd have more FLAC files but my HDD space is at a premium.

And yes, there's nothing stopping you copying them to CD-R.
Much of my music is OOP and some of it I've got from blogs and the links are broken now so I'd find it difficult to get them again.
Some of my CDs I also rip onto my HDD. If I had a big enough drive I'd try and do all of them.
I have more Digital than Physical albums but I'd much prefer it to be the other way around.

A couple 2 TB harddrives should do it. I don't know the exchange rate, but I can afford to get a new one of these every few months, and I'm dirt poor. |
I need to get a USB 3 converter thing first as I want to get USB 3 external drives. 1 Tb minimum for me would do nicely but 2 Tbs is more preferable.

Right now my music collection stands at approximately 700 Gbs. I have two 2Tb harddrives, one for all primary functioning, and another I use for stability (very important files, the novels/poetry books I'm writing, music I've recorded, essential files, and a reasonably updated storage of all my media).

I also plan to do something similar.
An external drive exclusively for music and another for everything else. Game install files, documents, plus I may migrate Steam over to it too, as I hear it's possible and games don't run much slower on an external.
I currently have an old 250 Gb external drive but it's noisy and it's in fact an internal drive in a case.
I presume those 2 drives plug into the mains?

Thanks for the tips James. I nuked all teh cookies. Doesn't seem to have righted itself. The malware scares me because it could very well be, I have something on here I know already I've not been able to remove!
Well...this laptop is 5 years old. Been through it all. May be time to just get a computer anyway.

Oh yeah I mean to say they are "hit/miss" but accidentally typed hot/iss and I can't edit it. Because all I can do is make a status, sometimes....can't even even logout! I'm gunna run all my scans, then maybe just ignore rapebook for a while and hope it fixes itself

Have you clicked on any weird videos posted on facerape? I know there's been some viruses doing the rounds. I've been fine but then I run Firefox with AdBlock+ and some other stuff too, so in theory I should avoid catching Internet Aids.
Don't you use Malware Bytes or Spybot or anything?
As I said, someone else had the same issue as you, so it could be a Facerape Aids pandemic.

Well, they're portable, so it's all pretty touch and go. I got two laptops on my network. My primary laptop stays on all the time (acting sort of like a desktop computer - it also has the doublespeaker stereo system, but for listening alone, I have some skullcandy headphones that work fairly well), with the primary harddrive plugged into the usb port and everything set to share. Any laptop that comes into my network (with my permission as there's a WEP key set) has full access to my data on the primary. The secondary laptop is fully wireless, then. I pull out the backup to update it from time to time.

I usually keep my laptop on most of the time as well. I'm not on broadband though. One day I will be though when I can afford it.
I need a new laptop though and when I eventually can also afford that I plan to use this one as a backup.

It was cheap and it works better than buds by far.
I actually don't use ANY virus protection. I don't use any spyware, malware, or virus defense. I don't scan, I don't protect. If either laptop gets too slow or buggy, I restore it to factory default, then it works like new.

I've migrated from AVG to Avast! and everything is much better now. AVG was slowing my system down and scans were incredibly slow.
You could always Google it. I'm sure there's a solution. It's probably stuck something the registry or something. You basically need to find out what's causing it and nuke it.
You also need to get a Hijack This log and get someone to look at it for you. You probably have a lot of fail there.

Yeah Avast is great. Google didn't help much but I didn't look too hard I'm not sure what you mean there but yes, I'm gunna get my brother to go in my laptop and see just how f**ked up it is (my guess is extremely). Whatever, I'm just not gunna care ATM, deal with it tomorrow. tired as hell. Cya
