The Doors are prog??? Confused

No, they are not.

Not really, but they helped prepare me to appreciate prog. Wink

I was into Queen then too, and Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc.  I didn't get into The Beatles, The Kinks, Rolling Stones, etc. until after getting into Yes, Genesis, VdGG and stuff... oddly enough.

edit: and heck, I'm not getting out of my Classic Rock phase even if I do like prog now. CREAM ROCKS!!! Big smile

I love '60s and '70s music, but a lot of what I listen to is too obscure to be considered "classic."

I never got into any of those.

I'm not really into LZ much anymore either.

Two obvious '60s gems:

The Pretty Things - S.F. Sorrow.  One of the first concept albums (before Tommy), and a psychedelic rock masterpiece.
Youtube clip : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy8lpHg1YBw

The Monks - Black Monk Time.  They're incredibly weird, but fun and dance-able somehow.
Youtube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5iI0__9S1c
(they were popular in Germany at the time, so they have a surprising number of live videos, which rocks)

The Doors are cool, but haven't heard them in ages.
I listened to them when I was going through my blues rock-y phase of Led Zep, Hendrix, Cream etc, but nowadays, not so much.

My sister gave me an Amazon gift card, so I ordered a few:

Happy Family - Toscco
Univers Zero - Uzed
Hugh Hopper & Alan Gowen - Two Rainbows Daily

Also, I "acquired" a few other things.  Embarrassed

Amazing album.

I'd love to hear the other two someday as well.
