Such are the benefits of affiliate membership of The Shed.

Also, at the fist signs of young peoples' posts in here resembling any of the usual tedious inanity demonstrated in the Play Pen Sand Pit Nursery Suede Room, we can give them a damned good thrashing with a completely clear concience

anyway Riccy, the essential thing to remember about 'Sheddism' is that its not so much a number, but more of a state of being... at 40, I am one of the younger members to have been offered the dubious privilege of affiliated membership, but that is only because I prematurely fulfill many of the criteria... I walk into a room and forget what I went in there for, I forget people's birthdays, meander mid sentence, can't remember where I've put my keys and make an involuntary groan when I try and get up out of a lounge chair...Confused

now, where we I?  what was I saying??....Ermm

I do all those, except wonder where my keys are, 'cause I always put them back afterwards... yet I'm only 28... ShockedEmbarrassedConfused

still waiting on James to get me that Cry

I do need a pound of atmospherics for the Shed's old steam radio - John Peel's Perfumed Garden doesn't sound right without them, and if they've got any Luxembourg Effect diodes then a couple of those would be good too.

Memory loss, Dean?

I think you'll find that was Ben you sent out to get that bubble. Wink

As Ben left long before I got here that's highly unlikely  Stern%20Smile

excuses, excuses... if this is modern edumacation at its creative best then the LHC cannot be brought on-line fast enough if you ask me - the sooner we have lots of little black-holes swimming around gobbling up all these flimsy excuses for excuses then the world will be a better place I'll tell you, and we'll have enough power to light our inefficient tungsten lamps so we can see where we're going rather than piddling about in the dim dimness of Philips marketing dressed as ecological efficiency, namby pampy, nanny-state directive, health and safety gone mad, let your conscience be your guide, keep your foot off the heartache, keep your mind on your driving, keep your hands on the wheel and keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead with a bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it, you're welcome, we can spare it - yellow socks too short to be haughty, too nutty to be naughty going on 40 - no electric shocks.

..and ain't that the bloody truth. Approve

I say we just stay put when the black hole comes upon us - as in if you're reading a book with a cup of coffee in your hand when it happens - cause, once we past through it, it's will just be a negative (aka the negative of a photo) version of the same universe, and we'll be able to resume the prior activity without problems. Tongue

But the coffee might taste bad after the protocolarly gravity shrink and reload...

(Congrats to Fanny for making the 666th post Wink)

Then I thought James was pushing it by being under 30.
But under 20?  Wink

I was just pushing it thanks to the fact that I've become a college guy, so I can detach from the expelled around here freakness of high-schoolers...Wink

Well here's tea anyway: first the boiled with a bit of milk one

Then for the rest:

Oh, the irish coffee too, in case Miss M. still wants

And the homemade (or ruinmade, de gustibus) biscuits (which, at least you can see, I haven't stick my finger in 'em)

I've also taken the liberty to put some Trio music by Schubert on the vinyl.

As for me, I'll just go with the daily heretic drink (that's gonna cut 10 years of my life, but I've long since forgotten to care)

Or perhaps some wine...hm...better not, I want to study with a clear head.

Biscuits?

They're scones boy, scones!

Mind you, if there's any clotted cream & raspberry jam, that would be spiffing

Schubert trio eh? Nice choice, but for tea & scones, I'd go for a little bit of Dvorak - preferably this recording:

Glorious!

Forget the unfinished symphony - this is Dvorak's "Never Started" symphony!  Wink

Ooo, I don't know Jim, they could be rusks... the scientific test would be to leave them out of the tin over-night - if they go soft they are biscuits, if the go hard they're scones.

quite partial to a bit of this myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bnlunrbb10

That's probably because a) he's impressionistic and b) he's so, 20th century...

that's not good, Debussy is my favorite composer (both regarding the listen, though perhaps I'm heavily more open to everything in this case, but especially to play his works)
