There's a lot of re-organizing to do here!
Some bands are really wrong placed (the bands from wich I know of)
For example: Gothic metal : In the woods and agalloch?? I'd put it in the "epic" place
Kayo dot is a part of the "Drone" area.. Like the bands godflesh, jesu etc.
Edge of sanity isn't black AT ALL. Edge of sanity is one of the first
DEATH metal bands, there has to be an "prog deathmetal" part here.
Make an space of just "Avantgarde metal " Get bands under that banner like ephel duath, fleurity, ved buens ende etc. etc. etc.
I could help a lot more.. but dream theatre posts are always flooding when it comes to progmetal here..

Ok guys: I plan to move one part of the Gothic bands to Orchestral (I'll name it Orchestral/Gothic), and the other to Avant. I moved most of the bands already, what about 3rd and the mortal and Everwood?

there must be some way to communicate better.. but there's a lot to
change man. So you'll put in the woods and agalloch in Ochestral/gothic
OR avant?? they're both not...!
by the way.. just put the gathering in "Art-rock".. The newest stuff (same as anathema) counts the most in the archives..

^ Art Rock is definitely not the correct genre for The Gathering. Post Metal is just what they are.

The don't fit into the metal genre anymore... After the silent Enigma they quit playing doom-influenced prog metal... Mainly awesome melancholic art rock beginning from "Eternity" and on... With some hard rocking passages...

^ Maybe you confuse Art Rock with something else ... the current Art Rock in the archives is a collection of not-so-progressive artists. It also needs some serious cleaning up, and then it should contain King Crimson type bands, if any.
Wouldn't it be sufficient to call Anathema "Avant/Post Prog Metal"? That's how I call that category now, and whether they're listed as Doom/Dark or Exp./Avant is not that important - and depends on the album.

you're saying it yourself, It depends on the album. The prog part of
anathema is the new era, if not? sure, list it as doom their older work
is! (NOT avant!)

- I still think kekal should be in Avant-Garde
- their music is a combination of all types of extreme metal
- (death, black, progressive, symphonic, traditional, thrash, technical, and melodic),
- with some ethereal/ambient, industrial, rock, electronica/goth and jazz and trip hop elements.

Art Rock is just a confusing name for a genre. In the late 60s King Crimson were called Art Rock. The term can be used synonymous to Progressive Rock.
I prefer Avant Rock or Avantgarde Rock. Maybe you could put Opeth's Damnation album there ... but I would still prefer something like Avantgarde Metal.
