I was once without water for almost two weeks. Possibly the worst experience I've ever had. LOL

LOL, I don't believe I ever had that problem here. Even when the water company cuts the water supply for whatever reason tehre is, we still have a 10k liters tank (actually 10 tanks of 1k liter each), so it is pretty fuking hard to run out of water.

Yeah, it's difficult to have such an issue without the help of some natural disaster or something like that. In my case, my landlady, who lived in the appartment bellow me (actually I was living in the semi-attic of her house), went to Germany for three months, at her relatives. When she closed down everything in her appartment (electricity, gas, water etc.), she switched off one water pipe too many Angry LOL

LOL, typical French person. Water @ home is obviously not necessary, after all nobody ever bathes oneself wile in French territory.

Whaaaa

No, this was a Romanian old lady (over 70 years old, back then). LOL

Couldn't you give Ceauşescu a call and tell him to have a "conversation" with that lady?

The shread only really gets active around 2-4 am, my time, so I usually go to sleep before it really goes somewhere.

I didn't appreciate how "east" of me most of South America was until I spent time chatting with South Americans here.  Geography fail.  Tongue

BTW, could you answer me something? @ the start of his government, it appears as if he was doing nice things 4 the country, so how did everything went wrong and he made Romania into a crappy place during the 80's?

He wasn't doing something good in the late 60s and the 70s, it was just a period without

- the terror from the late 40s and the 50s (social cleansing, tens of thousands of deaths, emprisonment, and lots of forced labour),
or
- the extreme poverty induced in the 80s by the historical lows "achieved" by the communist plannified economy.

Also, he rose on a wave of popularity due to his anti-Soviet position on the late 60s, when he decided not to take part in the invasion of Czechoslovakia. People hoped he'd become a kind of Tito.

Impressive how dictatorships and totalitarian governments eventually f**k up the country so bad that people are actually willing to fight the army if it gives them a way to depose them. In Brazil the 80's were so terrible that the country not only lost most of what it had acheived during the 60's and 70's , during the begining of the USA-led military dictatorship, but also went backwards in many fields.

Also, night shred.

Are you following the recent spread of protests in the secular Arab states? You might not, but they're very interesting. The Tunisians already managed to overthrow the president and his clan, and are now trying to overthrow his party completely. Egypt might be next.

G'night, sweet dreams.

Yeah, I think the ruling elite in other Arab states are none too happy with these recent developments.

Yes, because John Adams really respected the Constitution, even as new as it was.
