Good question. I haven't really paid attention to be honest, but now that you mention it, I'll have to give Pigs (Three Different Ones) a listen to hear this volume fluctuation.

Day trip to Athens to party with R.E.M. and go music shopping
(all on CD) Jandek - Athens Saturday (a concert I wanted to go to but couldn't, now on CD, yayy) Golden Palominos - A Dead Horse (bought for the wonderful contribution of Robert Kidney. I love that guy) Graham Coxon - The Sky is Too High (1st solo album from Blur guitarist) Sonic Youth - SYR6 (one of several experimental music releases on their private label) Martin Newell/Andy Partridge - The Greatest Living Englishman (collaboration between two British pop masters) Belle and Sebastian - Write about Love (their most recent studio album) This Heat - This Heat (the debut) Camper Van Beethoven - Tusk (a little side project of theirs - a low-budget reading of the entire Fleetwood Mac album) Bruce Gilbert - This Way to the Shivering Man (2 experimental works by ex-Wire guy, done in the 80s) The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys (2 disc deluxe edition) The Cure - Seventeen Seconds (2 disc deluxe edition)

Just bought:
I already own the Yes Studio Album box set but haven't been impressed at all with those remasters from Rhino. All of these I bought in this order are the 1994 Remasters and I heard they blow the Rhinos away. Really warm but plenty of clarity and no compression. Also bought the deluxe set of this classic: |

Per un Amico is what I meant to say. And yes...yes it is. I'm really happy with it as with the rest coming my way. Sometimes you just have to spoil yourself silly. |

Thank you my friends. I was due for a good solid haul. We can add ALAN PARSONS: THE ART OF SOUND. This is really cool. It's a 10 DVD instructional video on recording tips and other nicknacks. I plan to learn a lot. Also Audun. Fill me in on the SWANS whenever you like. Are they very different from THE SMITHS? Just curious. Like to hear your take. Prog on friends! |

Just bought that last night and I was able to listen to it immediately thanks to Amazon's 'Auto-Rip' feature. Not a bad album. I like the direction Opeth are going in. What did you think about Heritage?

I haven't had a chance to really listen to the whole album all the way through yet, but I like what I hear so far, especially the first couple of songs. The first has some ELP-esque keyboard work, too. Heritage was okay. I felt like it was a little boring in the middle, but it was interesting nonetheless. Strangley, though, my favorite song from that album was the bonus song, "Pyre". |

Yeah, Heritage has some boring parts, but it does contains several good songs like Folklore and Devil's Orchard for example. I just hope Opeth continue on this path.

Agreed. I love their proggy non-metal side just as much as their death metal side. It helps that Mikael loves 70's prog, too. |
