^ hopefully we've not hyped it too much, sometimes these things are more enjoyable when you feel that you've discovered them rather than having been recommended by others.

Boom. And that is The Walking Dead finished at last (all 177 episodes). Overall a good final series, and as I said before a much bigger budget was clear to see. The whole show definitely dipped around the arrival of Negan, as it just dragged on and on - but I'm glad I watched it all to the end and enjoyed it the main. But I think many people stopped watching around this point.
At the end of the final episode are some hints of what's to come: The Walking Dead: Dead City, Daryl Dixon and an untitled Rick & Michonne Spin-Off. So 3 more series as well as Fear the Walking Dead (which I'm still watching) and The Walking Dead: World Beyond which was crap and I stopped watching after 2 episodes. There maybe a movie sometime too. (The Walking Dead will be my specialist subject if I ever do mastermind lol).

^ I'm up to Episode 13 so just over half way through. Always had a lot of respect for Jeffrey Dean Morgan as an actor and saw him as a welcome addition and for me added a lot more jeopardy to the proceedings. Actually TWD had done very well with its actor recruitment for the villains, especially with David Morrisey and Sam Morton ,another 2 actors I highly rate.

Gangs Of London Season 2 2022
A bit hyped up this co-production between AMC and Sky. Season One was okay but I feel that the stakes have been upped in Season 2. Plenty of violence for sure as you would expect and the promise of a season 3 next year. Enjoyable. 8/10

War Of The Worlds Season 2
One of those rarities, a co production between England and France. Split cast with filming in both countries, this is closely related to The Walking Dead in terms of it being a survival drama and 'no nonsense' in style. The aliens are deeply underwhelming and although the basic idea is taken from the book very little else is. I enjoy it though and will watch the concluding Season 3. 7/10

We finished SAS: Rogue Heroes last night - 6 episodes in total. Quite good it all was as well. Some of it seems unbelievable, but I read up online about it and even though the stories have been over played, it is all true. What was nice too was that old, black and white original footage was mixed in with the modern day incidents. For example when they were leaping off the back of trucks or high towers during training the real stuff was mingled in with the acting; I really liked that. 9/10 from me and another series in the works.

I recently finished watching the entire Dragon Ball anime cartoon series, the English-language version that I believed aired in the early 2000s on the Cartoon Network. I used to watch this after work because there was nothing else on and got addicted to it. Found the entire series on DVD lot long ago.
Definitely a must-see if you've never watched what led up to the classic Dragon Ball Z series. Having not seen this for so long and never having seen it in an uncut version, I was taken aback by some of the misogynistic themes (occasionally bordering creepy). I see now why some scenes were cut from viewing in the United States. Master Roshi was indeed a dirty old man. Definitely a product of the culture of the 1980s. Having said that, the characters are as engaging and original as I remember, with a mix of humor (sometimes bordering on bathroom humor) and seriousness often lacking from the good-versus-evil superhero-style cartoon.

More grown up then some of the other Disney Star Wars shows. Watching Succession on HBO now.

^Also just finished Andor. Rouge One was one of the few SW movies that I really liked. Diego Luna does a great job with the character. Looking forward to how they bring it into Rouge One by the end of season 2 (I heard that was their plan).

^ Yea, Rouge one was great. A little darker & more grounded then the other Star Wars stuff. I feel Andor followed that same path. Looking forward to season two.

Perhaps some truth to this (but then I love GoT and it was hyped too). After the first half of season 1, Yellowstone is without doubt an excellent, innovative and intelligent show. But it's also quite grim with very little redemption or payoff... at least so far. I will finish season 1 but not sure about the rest. We'll see. |

Just finished the 3rd and final series of See. A decent ending rounded off a pretty decent TV show. 3 series is certainly enough though. 7/10 this season, 7.5/10 overall.

I tried watching Season 1 but hated the first episode so much I had to stop. Is it meant to be funny?! |

^I might use the word 'quirky'. A loose mystery 'the death' and then it's all about the character studies. If you don't like the characters I can understand how you might not like the show. I found the 'story' to be less interesting than the characters for sure. I absolutely loved Jennifer Coolidge in her roll and even more so in the 2nd season. But I'm glad they wrapped up that story line.

Alice in Borderland - Season 2. Netflix original picks up from Season 1. Based on a manga, this live-action adaptation is about title character Arisu with his two best friends, transported into an alternate world where they must play games in order to survive. His friends die in Season 1 and he makes new allies along the way. Seaaon 2 is better in my opinion as it focuses on the characters and the games are clever. Lots of violence, good use of flashbacks to establish points of view. A lot of questions about meaning, purpose, and value of life. The ending won't satisfy everyone but I liked it. It ends where the manga does though there is a sequel manga that could be adapted. 8/10

^ Yep, I really liked season two of Alice in Borderland, and I liked the final episode.
The last series, at least for now (or season) I think that I finished before that was 1899. And I liked Kleo a lot. Going to watch the last two episodes of His Dark materials today. I have found this season (season 3) to be excellent. |
