I make a post about me leaving.

Then you come in, post right after about how you want to leave.
And so on for the rest of the SR members.

Hell! Some things make sense and don't make sense at the same time.

How?

Here's a quick example : Hunger

Biogically and logically, hunger happens when your body needs to eat to provide energy to your life system.

Psychologically and unpredictably, hunger happens every now and then, when you feel like eating.

But those feelings and psychological responses can be explained. Responses, whether emotional or logical, can all be somehow explained and analyzed. A person has a personality and highest values in every aspect, and responds to everything around him/her every day and in every magnitude (whether it be a simple like or dislike or something much more significant and important to the person's beliefs). All of this is determined by choice and the environment in which someone is raised and exposed.

There is always a reason for feeling hungry, be it because your mind is currently not occupied at all and it trails off to thinking about food (for whatever reason), because you biologically respond after a certain time, or start talking about food or see a commercial for food.

Psychological reactions can be "explained". Nobody has the pretension of having understood human brain yet. As you say, you may be hungry cause you thought about food out of a sudden and for whatever reason. Does that really explain why you are hungry? It doesn't really to me. Of course I'm thinking about eating if I'm thinking about eating. Why does it happen though? Who knows?

If you don't like the hunger example, think about tastes or something.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

It happens because your brain is having it happen, really; it's a reason within itself (i.e. along the lines of--"Why does it happen? Because it happens. Roll the bones")

Explaining the matter of tastes or something else is quite an interesting matter, because those all come down to balancing mental choice and predisposed personality/trait effects. You may naturally just not like a certain taste because of predisposed genes, traits, or for whatever reason that we may not be entirely sure of yet. The point is--there IS a reason and order behind it, but it's irrelevant to nearly all the time.

This is a shaky matter though, and I'm not really arguing with your point as such. I'm simply saying that everything can be explained in some form using logic as the ultimate tool and not falling for logical fallacies. Emotions and thoughts, despite often portrayed as opposites in the media, really do interconnect.

I'd rather not get banned, since the rules pretty clearly state that any ban is a permaban. Hooray for moderation. (lol, pun)

Yeah, being banned is not fun.
Unless it were the Dreamtheaterforums.org, in which, it will improve your quality of life not being able to post there anymore.

Well I've always seen lines as "Why does it happen? Because it happens." as the complete opposite of a reason to explain something. To me, this just shows that some things happen without a reason and there's no use to try and find it out. Why? Because.

About taste, well, I've read a lot about taste recently. From ancient philosophers to modern philosophers to psychologists. Nobody knows where tastes come from. Psychologists tend to go with what you said. However, it's strictly an hypothesis. Sure, this makes sense and all but, if you get down to it and try to analyse someone, you'll see tastes are often illogical with the context someone grew up in and stuff. You can always try to explain 'em in a way but I could explain mostly everything if I wanted to by pushing some kind of logic very far.

Emotions and thoughts are not opposites to me. They are basically the same actually. That makes up the unpredictable side of humanity. If, like animals, we were only based on instinct, we could be predictable and fully explained by logic. However, the faculty of thinking messes things up.

On a side note and to follow what I said, I'd much rather walk pass a bear in a dark alley than a man.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.
