Ordered my Insurgentes DVD when it came out. Hope I got in the 1st 2000. The free gift could be anything really, a poster, postcards, a CD with the 6 bonus songs that feature on the DVD. Anyway, I can't wait to see the film in its entirety. I enjoyed the preview that came with the album

Anybody know what could be on the second disc of the Insurgentes package? We've got one for the actual DVD, and we've also got the Bass Communion live recording, but (dependent on the size of the BC show) they could both fit on a single DVD.
Steven Wilson wrote this message on Facebook today:
Hi folks - so the free gift with the Insurgentes double DVD pre-order is almost certainly going to be a CD of archive SW material, pre-PT, pre-No-Man, pre-everything. When I was a teenager I was experimenting with all sorts of things, including songwriting, electronic music, psychedelic and progressive music..etc.. and made hours and hours of primitive recordings. Some of this fed in to the early PT cassette releases, but I've never actually tried to compile a whole disc of music from this era. Normally I wouldn't let any of this music out of the archive, since it's pretty primitive and amateurish in many ways, but since the film talks about how I started to make music, and has a few clips of my early efforts, it seemed logical to extend this idea through to this bonus disc. Please don't expect anything of mind blowing musical quality of importance! Just a bit of historical context. I need to compile this when I get back from the current PT US tour, so I don't know exactly how much music will be on there yet, but I hope at least 30-40 minutes or so. The original 2,000 copies of the disc that were going to have this free gift with them sold out very quickly, but now that we know that this archive CD will be the item in question I decided with Burning Shed to extend the offer for the bonus CD at least until the end of August. So please if you want this disc don't wait until it's too late and then get pissed at me that you have to pay silly money for it on eBay! On that subject please note that there are currently 40 copies left of the Cover Version box set, and about 15 copies of the IEM box set left - neither of which will be repressed. Sorry, I know it's been an expensive year for SW related special editions, box sets...etc...but if it's any consolation from October I don't think there will be any releases for at least 6 months or so - after that 2011 should be all about new music.

WOW! I really hope they extend the free CD edition until the end of August; I still haven't gotten mine yet. SW pre-everything?! Should be really cool.
Yeah, I think I was in the first 2000, too, luckily! As soon as I saw the announcement that it was available, I ordered it immediately! I must be a marketing man's dream. That is a very nice gift. And I hope Steve is serious about laying off the special editions, boxsets, albums for at least six months! I'm going broke!

What a hero SW is. He really cares about his fans. I can't wait to hear this early stuff. On a seperate note, next year is going to be interesting, '2011 should be all about new music.' Blackfield III, Solo album, new PT album, possible Royal Albert Hall DVD and the odd collaboration here and there. I can't wait!!!

I'd best start saving up for all this splurging now!

I really need to get a job to keep up with SW.
Also, has anybody heard any news about a live recording of The Incident? Not that I've heard anything, but I really want one after watching some bootlegs on Youtube
I want one too, man. The amazing live spectacle of the Incident must be recorded and/or filmed for the ages! It really does sound so much better live (not that I don't like the album version, it was easily my favourite record of last year, and I do not get the hate directed at it). Please record the Albert Hall or NYC gig PT.

Yeah, a few of the US dates on the Incident tour were apparently recorded. They aren't gonna let those go to waste. Are they? They recorded the Atlanta gig ages ago, and only released it to the public this year. So you never know.
Maybe it is a bit too soon for another DVD though. We only just went through the drama of waiting for the Anesthetize special edition.

Well if the RAH is released as a live DVD then you will have your wish because that's the last time it's getting played live in it's entirety.

It's official!
I'm very excited they extended the bonus CD edition 'till August 31st, because I wasn't able to purchase it until tonight, and I'm pretty sure those first 2000 went quickly!

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
