The psych/folk tendencies subsided a lot on MPP.

Well clearly it's their poppiest album. Plus a lot more electronic and doesn't have Deakin. Strawberry Jam, Feels and Sung Tongs all had their poppy tracks that could be on MPP, but that's not all AC do. I think MPP is a bit like a collection of their "hit" tracks, but doesn't really show what the band is capable of. Strawberry Jam on the other hand has poppy tracks, rock tracks you name it. Again I love MPP, I just don't think it's their best album and for sure not the album that best represents what AC is about.

Well, yeah, the experimental and edginess was cut down a bit, but I personally don't think AC's songs sounded better anywhere else, except perhaps Strawberry, than they do on MPP. This album really has some of the band's best stuff.

I need to borrow some AC. All this controversy, commentary and chit-chat has sparked an interest.

Whoa, I've never seen Jesse in here Hahaha, people are funny. Truth be told I don't hold anything against the band, I just don't feel the need to buy the album - I still find people's reactions funny

It does. It's my second favorite by them.

Rico, have you tried Here Comes the Indian or any of the earlier releases?
G'night Mike!

I've only gone back till Feels. I have Sung Tongs too, but haven't listened to it yet. From what I've read in the appreciation thread, the first albums aren't as good as the later works - in which case, my interest drops.
