Ah yes, I forgot about that little tidbit.

Well you can have fun later in the year. Big smile

Until the babies start to whine, of course.  That'll stop you sleeping,

The terrible twos. Wink

Not if it's Rheingold. Half of the music is excellent - and pumps adrenaline in me big time. Big smile

Timewind is a good, natural sleeping pill - I'll agree to that. But only because it's great ambient stuff - that is, it has the full qualities of "ambiance", without being baby whales music.

Another 10 in exams today. Shocked

My interest in that show lost its grip so much, I expected Season 5 to start in February, not today. LOL

Well, playing Bach on organ* wasn't perfect (but neither easy, for just 5 lessons I took all semester), was more like 9 towards 10, but if it was enough...I'm not complaining.  LOL

I realize that, in more esteemed universities, this 10 translates into a 7, so I'm hoping to do overall well into this *cough* piece de merde *cough* and then mobilize for some foreign studies. I don't wanna remain in my hometown for more than one, maximum two years.

* they should have let me play on Mellotron. Wink

I've heard some Chopin on radio recently and really enjoyed it.  However his works do sound a bit like Liszt's Hungarian pieces sometimes... which is good, of course.

Any suggestions as to where to start with Chopin?

I think I have Piano Concertos No. 1 and 2, as well as some Etudes.  Some very nice stuff indeed, I would like recommendations from Rico or someone knowledgeable as to other compositions I should check out.

*sigh*

The track is called "Alife" not "Alifie" (an anagram of Wyatt's wife Alfie)

Why do people always get that wrong? (not blaming you, Pat, but Gracenote always gets it wrong when I play my CD copy of Rock Bottom)

It annoys me so much!

I'm going to have to make a list of songs for which I need to edit the ID tags.  Didn't catch that when I was ripping the CD (plus, I guess I just expect the track names to be correct).  Confused

I never expect track names to be correct and I check all albums I play before they get registered on last.fm.

That includes English titles.

I was very surprised that In the Court of the Crimson King was registered correctly with Gracenote the other day.  I was expecting it to use the short titles, rather than the official lengthier ones.

Oh you have it on CD?  That explains it then.  Gracenote and other similar track search thingamebobs always get the track titles wrong on Rock Bottom.

I'm anally retentive when it comes to my track titles registering on last.fm correctly.

Last.fm say that they are working on a solution to allow you to edit tracks or artists played, but I'll be shocked if it ever happens.  I have a few artists that are in under 2 different names that I would like to combine.  Vanden Plas is also in as The Vanden Plas; A.C.T are also in as A.C.T. or C/A/T.  I know that there are a couple of others too where the CD came up with a mistyped artist name.

What I do is delete the offending track my play list and then replay the track with the correct name.

So when it recognises top albums, it will have all the tracks with the correct names on there.

I have that problem with Univers Zero and Univers Zéro.

I want to use the latter but when i first started using last.fm I used the former.  Now I have two separate artist entries.

Right, that's another problem I have to fix.

It's not just last.fm, that shows up as two separate artist entries on my iPod.  Very annoying.

Also since there's multiple bands named Zao, the live album I got from emusic lists the artist as Zao (2). Confused  I was going to play that album the other day but I definitely didn't want that artist name on the playlist!

Hmm...the spicy Hungarian dances and the Polish dances are usually a different breed. And Chopin is quite different from Liszt, too. The "bohemian" vs "the madman" ... "the saloon gentleman" vs "the concerto furioso"...quite tricky to call them the same.

The 2nd Piano Concerto is one of my favorite, Pat, so that's a hot recommendation there (of course, the recommendation is to get more than just one interpretation).

The Preludes and Polonaises, as a whole, are also worth listening to.

To evade out of simple danses into more...absorbing Chopin masterliness: the Fantasy, the Rondos.

I'm really contemplating a proposed split of the RIO/Avant sub.  Would you be in favor of this in a general sense, James?  I'd really like to see the RIO movement highlighted more prominently.
