HAHAHAHAHA Animal Collective classified as dance music. That's coke-spill worthy.

I love how people get so defensive about this. Half of the battle of making me like that style of music is getting over how lol-worthy the fans are.

I agree; and it's even more interesting that James is judging them based on their most (arguably) poppy song.

No Animal Collective for me thanks. I'm going to eat homemade tacos and drink beer. Neither one GETS OLD FASTER THAN JACK.
(C'mon you guys know Jack...the character played by Robin Williams, died like at 13?)

What a stupid reason to keep yourself from music.

I should make a Henry Cow v. Animal Collective poll and see how it turns out.

The fanboyism doesn't help. It put me off Henry Cow. I haven't played them since I finished the Boxset. I will eventually but probably when Alex calms down about them and had discovered some other band/artist to be a fanboy over... Oh wait, that's already happened! Maybe I can listen to them again now.

I'm not being defensive of Animal Collective. If someone dislikes them, I personally don't give a f**k. I don't like when people blindly say hateful things about a band unprovoked (it's okay if someone asks for your opinion, not so much otherwise), classify them as something they clearly are not with a negative connotation, or thinks that their opinions are truths. Closed-mindedness and stupidity have more in common than most people expect. If you want to specialize in an obscure type of music that only 3 other people that you know on the internet like, that's fine. It's not okay to make fun of virtually everything that doesn't fall within that specialization. Lately I've discovered that a lot of prog fans here are just as bad as mainstream music fans. Not everyone. Not the majority. But quite a lot.... Discovering that in addition to discovering new types of music has moved me away from considering myself a "progger" and in turn, this website. If people opened their minds more, or at least shut their mouths (/fingers), this website would be much more enjoyable for everyone.

Think about this: some random dude who loves AC as much as you love Rush might say the SAME EXACT THING about Rush, even without listening to them. Do you think that's fair?

Except I was joking with my comments...
Ah well.
I'm not solely into prog. In fact, I barely listen to what most people consider prog.
And I do not specialise in obscure music for kicks. I genuinely enjoy it. I also enjoy more mainstream music.
I'm a Neil Young and Bob Dylan fan. I enjoy Joan Osbourne's Relish. I even own a Primal Scream album which is often classed as a Dance album. In fact, I quite like some Prodigy and Aphex Twin.
I even saw a Celtic folk band the other week.
So I am very open minded.

Quoted for truth ![Clap Clap](smileys/smiley32.gif) . I actually never considered myself a 'progger' - I am a music lover who happens to like prog more than other genres, but that does not mean this is the only kind of music I listen to. Cliques and sects are not my thing, thank you. Look at the way some ADULT people react every time a controversial addition is made... Looks like somebody had broken into their house, or something to that effect ![Dead Dead](smileys/smiley11.gif) .
