17 here. I love most prog both classic and new. Got into it through Pink Floyd when I was about 13 or so. I'm surprised at how many young people are supposedly on here.

I got into prog when I was about 10 through Dream Theater. I still listen to a lot of Dream Theater, but in the last year or so I have really gotten into bands such as Genesis and Pink Floyd. I also enjoy jazz, contemporary rock and some classical.

I'm an embryo and I don't listen to anything other than Prog Metal, because I'm too immature to appreciate other styles of music

I'm 300 and only listen to J.S. Bach, my nephew's son is 250 and listens to L.v. Beethoven all night long - that bloody noise is going to make him go deaf one day.

If you're under the age of eighteen and you say you listen to anything that isn't deathcore and Gangnam Style you are a BOLD. FACED. LIAR.

Thanks, thought i'd turn it into a bumper sticker and put it on my car. Cafe Press would make so much money off of that one.

Well thats nothing - I'm actually the real - "wowbagger the infinately prolonged", and despite having lived on earth since adam was a lad - I still don't understand why wimmin only remember the bad things you have done since you met them....oh aye and I've still not managed to listen to all of Zappa's output - just haven't got the time !!!

I'm 21 now but I've been into prog since I was 15, my favorite bands are Yes and Genesis, and I like the classic 70's style of prog most of all.
As for prog metal, I do like it, but I don't like the direction it's taken recently. For example... I really enjoy the first few albums by Opeth, but the more recent ones I find boring, same thing for Symphony X, and Queensryche (their last few albums were shameful). Not to mention the metalcore influence on the newer bands, especially the "djent" subgenre. There are still some very cool bands out there, though. Vektor and Enslaved being the first that come to mind.

Your absolutely right about QUEENSRŸCHE. Haven't produced a good album since PROMISE LAND and I don't think you gotta be younger than 18 to figure that one out. 'Shameful' is indeed the correct word

I'm 14 and I definitely enjoy classic prog more. I do love some newer stuff, but prog-metal isn't anywhere near my favorites.

Just turned 17 last month. Favourite bands: old Genesis, Marillion. I also find Rush and Pendragon pretty good too. Like other people said, prog metal is not a favourite genre of mine. :)
