Well good for S.F. Who woulda thunk Lincecum would beat Cliff Lee twice in this Series.
|
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

And sadly, I worked pretty every game of the WS except for one, and by then I figured it was over...
Well, cool to see the Giants win it. I like their team, bunch of scrappy, no names. 4 home grown pitchers, acquired a bunch of "whos?" during the season. Almost a story book ending.
Cool for them!

Sad end to the baseball season. That lineup winning a WS, yuck. Destined to go down with the Florida Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks in the "that really happened" category of baseball history.
Was starting to feel almost guilty about how often the Yankees compete for the title but that ends that creeping thought. Yuck, just yuck.

Just because it was not "the usual" it was yuck?
Besides, what else is there to say? This aint college football, they went on to beat the best teams in the playoffs, and yuck or not they assembled the best team.
Congrats to them.
Yanks will just have to get #28 next season

^ Was only expressing a personal opinion. I think an average team got hot at the right time. Just my opinion.
The only positive I take out of this is at least Barry wasn't around to collect a ring.

I'd agree.
But they picked the right time to get hot! And no one can deny they earned it. Of course I'd have preferred the Yankees but I think they got a bit of work to do.

Well maybe we should make MLB a 50 game season to avoid teams getting hot at the right or worst time......I'm sorry after 162 games and 100,000 miles of traveling if a team gets hot in the post season then they deserve to win. Baseball is about streaks, something the NY Bankees know too well.
Remember you have to get to the post season first to think about starting a hot streak. After shutting down the NYY, the Rangers were spent, they blew their wad. There is always something to be said by beating NY in the postseason.
Cliff Lee's performance just shows he is human, and can get caught off guard and loose focus on the mound. didn't help that the Rangers bats went on a cold streak.......
Congrats to the Giants....they deserve the series win, Lincecums' a beast.....
Now......will Felix Hernandez get the Cy Young? He should........

As a Tigers' fan, Edgar Renteria winning the WS MVP just adds insult to injury. He was so awful when he played for the Tigers and he cost us Jair Jurrgens and Omar Infante. I thought that if Lincecum didn't win the MVP for his 2 wins that Cody Ross would win it for the World Series that he had. When I discussed the former Tigers playing in the World Series some posts back I didn't realize that Andres Torres was playing for the Giants too. He was a typical no bat good speed centerfielder for the Tigers a number of years ago. I was actually shocked that he was still in the league. I hear that he hit 16 homers during the regular season. Oh well, not that any of them did much for the Tigers when they were Tigers, it is good to see 4 former Tigers win a World Series ring.

His season with the Giants is almost identical to the season he had with the Tigers.

Yes sir.
He had a freak World Series, but that happens in small sample sizes.

As much as I hate the Giants (being a devoted Dodger fan I have to. It is required) this is great for Baseball. This is what makes the game so fantastic. It isn't for a day either like football where one team has a good day and the other does not. This is played over a series of games. The 69 Mets the 88 Dodgers an now the 2010 Giants are teams who did not have the best lineup on paper but had the best team on the field and that is all that matters. Thank God the large money teams failed this year because it gives hope for every other market that they can rise up an punk you every now and again. If the large market teams win every year like Basketball the rest of the league means nothing. Sorry to all you Yankee fans that think this boring now you know what the rest of the country feels like when you guys are hot.

That's Renteria's 3rd WS ring?
Good WS. Sad that it's over and it sucked that it ended on a Monday night.

I think that they said that it was Renteria's 2nd World Series ring. He also played in the World Series where the Red Sox won their first title in 86 years, but he was playing for the Cardinals, and made the last out to end that series.

Sad day in Tiger Town. Former manager Sparky Anderson has been placed into hospice. It sounds like his days left on earth are quite few.

That really is a shame Scott. Really one of the icons of Detroit sports.
