Don't worry SR, I chickened out. ;-)

But now I have to go get a doctor's note because I called out from work 3 days in a row, argh.

Kid A is better than I remembered, except for the song Kid A, which is really annoying, but Amnesiac is not.

Good to hear you could sleep.

Given how I feel after just one sleepless night, I wasn't really surprised by what you posted.

Well you didn't know that I've heard about 5 or so suicides within the past two months by people throwing themselves in front of trains near my house. So its just like, I don't expect someone to joke about it.

Glad you got some sleep anyways. Good luck with the doctors note.

Well I tend to assume that other people don't take the internet seriously either, which sometimes gets me into trouble...

Sorry to hear about the suicides, the world outlook is pretty bleak at the moment.

Kid A (the song) is a grower but I support this affirmation of Amnesiac's flawlessness.

I think I took it that way cause I don't know you well enough, and the internet lends itself to that so... eh.

I'd recommend any of the other 4 albums that make up their first 5. That being s/t debut, Song for America, Leftoverture, and Point of Know Return.

And despite what Robert says, Somewhere to Elsewhere is NOT the place to go next (sorry dude, but you know I'm rightWink). At least not unless you like their first 5 enough.

David, I found your new avatar:

Here's the formula, Ben:

If Steve Walsh and Kerry Livgren are about equally involved in the project (not necessarily in the songwriting), it's a good Kansas album (Monolith and Audio-Visions less so).  Somewhere to Elsewhere is stellar and has a nice, clean modern sound.

But if you want the 1970s sound, you simply can't go wrong with anything in their first five.  I'd say grab the debut though.
