That's okay. I got beer.

Really? That's surprising.
Admittedly, I'm not too much of a candy person; I'm pretty picky when it comes to that. I would prefer it to beer though, since I don't drink.
|
Of course you don't drink. What are you, ten? Shouldn't you even be out right about now, trick or treating or egging someone's house?
I'm sorry- I've been really mean to my only consistent Prog Jeopardy contestant.
I don't eat candy either, and I still have sixteen fillings. I brush, and all. Go figure. Maybe it's for cheating through high school. I don't know. God throws some pretty mean left hooks.
|
It's not my type of thing anyway, independent of my age. Just don't have the motivation.
That is odd. Sixteen? It seems like there must be some sort of explanation there.
|
I'm convinced bad teeth are genetic. Just like heart problems and Diabeetus
Yeah, I said Diabeetus. Just like Wilford Brimley from the Quaker Oats commercials.
Collectively, I'm prone to all three.
|
That makes sense. I never knew a whole lot about teeth and I wouldn't have thought they would delve into genetics much, but that could be. That sucks.

I started buying alcohol when I was 16, because I could grow a beard at that age already
| I had a good friend with a beard. That was good enough.

Today is not an epic posting day for me. I'm off in about 1.5 hours to go play guitar, and after I'm done with guitar practice, I'm finally going to hang out with someone I haven't seen in about 3 months. I just had a friend over before, so this weekend is going to be social and mostly away from the computer.

Today has been slow anyway. Even if I wanted to post more it wouldn't have mattered, since nearly everyone is off doing something. I never do anything on Halloween. Plus, I had 4 tests today and I just want to take it easy for the rest of the night. As to what I'm doing this weekend, I'm not entirely sure yet.

A while, got my first electric in late 2003, but didn't play much, maybe a few days a week, and in 2005 I started again from scratch when I realized my technique was appalling. I started to take the classical guitar approach to scales and just focusing on economy of motion etc

| I've been playing guitar almost eleven years now. You know how much time I spend practicing?
I don't.
If anything, I learn a few new pieces from time to time (mostly from Joe Pass and Steve Howe- I can play "Clap" and "Mood for a Day" quite well, as well as the theme from Tetris!), but I quit practicing scales and speed picking and all that. It's just not me.
I focus on writing music, and I write music within my ability to play it. Many, many, many bands (need I name any?) have demonstrated that you don't have to be a prodigy on your instrument to make great music, and that's what I've been focusing on.

I guess for me, I feel restricted if I don't have technique. There is a certain emotion (quite a few actually) that I only feel when I play fast, so I like be to able to do that as well as play slow too. Lately, my main focus has actually been vibrato anyway. I cannot stand listening to a player with bad vibrato. For me, phrasing, vibrato and good bending on electric guitar are the fundamentals for sounding like a real guitarist instead of a hack.

| I didn't say I never practiced, I just quit.
I do, however, practice the keyboards much more now. Going solo, it helps to have both parts covered, you know?
By the way, you're damn right about phrasing, vibrato, and good bending. It makes the difference.

One of my friend's plays bass and keyboards (although it's secondary to his bass playing, while I can play guitar and sorta play bass. I know I'll probably end up learning how to play keyboards to some extent in the future.

Oh, I'm here. I've drummed for nearly 3 years now and keyboarded (is that a word? Now it is) for almost that long. I mainly keyboard just when I'm feeling inspiration, drumming mostly that but every once in a while I'll practice. I practiced quite often every week for my first 2 years of drums, but I use it primarily as a creative outlet, so I use them whenever I want to.

I can keep a 4/4 beat pretty damn well on drums.
Sometimes I go crazy and can play a waltz!
