Kaipa's three "classic" 70's albums are among my favorites, Anglagard, and Beardfish are great too.

A really musical culture existing on the country of Sweden, and the gusts of new sounds blew quick to their side of Scandinavia from England and continental Europe.

I have managed yet only to scratch the surface, but from early psych moments Pärson Sound is very recommendable group, focusing to minimalist sound textures and aural soundscapes.
Their later incarnations International Harvester and Träd, Gräs och Stenar have also some really fine hypnotic moments, sadly coupled with quite poor letdowns.
I have spinned some Mecki Mark Men albums, and they sound interesting early experimental rock disks, my own focus has though been immersed to the Baby Grandmothers album which emerged from this group.

My awareness of the Swedish prog was introuced by Anekdoten's "From Within", and I really adore the two dark monolithic album artifacts.
Through moody Morte Macabre I found the melancholic realms of Landberk, and more sensual continuum from that band from the albums of lovely Paatos.
From psyhcedelic perspective I have enjoyed The Spacious Mind (and their Råd Kjetil etc. projects), spontaneous innovations of My Brother The Wind and grandiose tonal constructions of Gösta Berlings Saga.

As some other encouters, have seen Dungen on stage and liked them very much, but the studio albums I listened didn't sound so fine as their live concert with more open and impressionistic playing.
As random nuggets I might mention Anna Själv Tredje's "Tussilago Fanfara" for fans of vintage electronics, Garmarna's first recording for those enjoying raw polska ragas, Trettioåriga Griget's first for anybody interested on fusion of 1973 King Crimson and Deep Purple (or sumthin) and ST Mikael's "In Harmony" for psych rock hallunogenic sequences.
Currently on my listenings from the neighbors are the discography of The Amazing (coming soon to the archives) and the solitary album of Life.

Looking forward to find new groups and albums from this adorable country certainly.
Wouldn't Mellotron Storm and Guldbamsen (and others enlightened) have time for a comprehensive list? Big smile

Heheh.... Mine would indeed include a lot of the same stuff that you've already mentionedBig smile

As for the early psychedelic sound. There was actually a couple of different takes on it, where one of them continued the late 60s in both sound and melody, whereas the other that started with International Harvester in 1968 relied much more on a looser expression. I've called it Scandinavian Krautrock, and as bunkers as that may sound to folks around here, it still is very befitting. The first couple of Kebnekaise albums, particularly ll and lll sound like a wobbly and folky Amon Düül. Then there's Archimedes Badkar, Trad gras och Stenar, Algarnas Tradgard, Fläsket Brinner, Handgjort and a couple of others that I forget right now, but all of these bands utilised a somewhat deranged approach to making music leaning on atmospheres, micro-tonal effects, experimental electronics, psychedelia, free form composition, improv, jazz, Nordic folk and Indian colours. Right up my tree!

Björn J:son Lindh also made some pretty amazing albums in his day - emanating something of the same fragrance as the aforementioned Swedes.

Alright I will have to come back with a "list", but for now this will have to do. 
I don't actually make lists anymore for fear of forgetting stuff that I love. There's just so much out there, that I have a hard time remembering all of it.

I was looking for a topic to express my love for Gungly, especially their latest album: On Her Journey to the Sun. I love it to dead. I play it constantly.
It reminded me a bit of another great band I discovered years ago: The Carpet Knights (who are swedish to).

Guess I'm all about the Swedish progrock. :D
