Olias of Sunhillow and Fish Out of Water are on par with '71 to '77 Yes albums. You won't be disappointed.

But steer clear of most Steve Howe albums - the guy just won't learn he can't sing!

You'd better believe it. Guitar solos really wouldn't fit on this album. It's very atmospheric and trippy.

Sure, guitar or keyboard solos are not important if music is ok.

Just buy it. You really shouldn't be dissapointed.

This is very true. It's truly an unusual and magical listening experience - very transcendental.

i'm not convinced that anything can beat fish out of water, not a flaw to be found.

Although Olias is fantastic, it does have its disappointing moments. I lost my copy of Olias, and it says something of my opinion of it when i say that i'm incredibly annoyed.

Here are my choice for 5 cd´s/albums by prog solo artists:

Neal Morse (Spocks Beard/ Transatlantic/ Yellow matter custard) : " ONE ".

Steve Hackett(Genesis/GTR): " To watch the storms".

Steve Hillage(Arzachel/Egg/Khan/Gong.) : "Fish rising".

Kerry Livgren(Proto-kaw/Kansas): "One of several possible musics".

Steve Howe (Tomorrow/Yes/GTR) : "The grand scheme of things".

Of course it´s a matter of taste and opinion, but these

are to me,great great albums!! Try them!!

Now...but seriously:

-Steve Hackett: "Voyage of the Acolyte"

-Peter Gabriel: "Plays Live".

-Phil Collins:"...but seriously". Yes, I know. Many people in this Forum hates him. But, anyway, this is his best solo album.

-Tony Banks: "A Curious Feeling".

-Rick Wakeman:"Journey to the Centre of the Earth".

My impression of "The Geese and the Ghost" is this: You start listening to the album, and you like it. But after about 10 minutes into it you ask yourself: "Man, does this ever change? Will this ever have a climax?" And unfortunately it doesn't.

A very good solo album (if one likes fusion) is "Marsscape" by Jack Lancaster. He was the sax player of Blodwyn Pig and also appears on the last short track of the first Brand X album. The whole original Brand X (Phil Collins, Percy Jones, Robin Lumley and John Goodsall) play all throughout this album. In my opinion this is the lost "Brand X" album plus a saxophone.

Jozef Skrzek - 'Ojciec chrzestny Dominika' (leader of SBB)

Martin Orford - 'Classical music and popular songs' (a very good neo-prog album and Martin orford is a very good singer)

Steve Morse - 'High tension wires', one of the most beautifully written guitar album

Michael Sadler - 'Clear' (Saga leader, with the great Chris Frazier on drums)

Marcus Viana - most of his musics for films, one of the best violinist ever

Eric Johnson - all his three solo albums are full of great melodies and also very good vocals

Synergy - 'Electronic realizations for rock orchestra'

John Arch - 'A twist of fate', an incredible return to form for the original Fates Warning vocalist who abandoned music for 16 years

Dave Bainbridge - Veil of gossamer, he is not a very original guitarist but this album is filled with some interesting vocals and some celtic influences.

David Sancious - 'Just as I thought' an album that proves the open-mindedness of David, blending jazz-rock, classical music, and UK-inspired prog rock.

Dave Greenslade - 'The pentateuch of the cosmogony', an album full of various sounds

Czeslaw Niemen - 'Postscriptum', not as good as his earlier performances but on yhis album he does everything

Maddy Prior - her first album (featuring all members of Jethro Tull) and her later albums, she often writes  concept-albums and her voice is sublime

"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)
