I think I was misunderstood when describing math-rock
It has evrything good about punk: the energy, DIY attitude, and genral "f**k you" mentality but it also has the complexity and pretentiousness of prog.
Oh and we need to get Drive Like Jehu on the site, they are probablly the second most important Math-Rock band, right behind Don Cab

come on, they have probably the biggest influence, they represent the punk-leaning side like Don Cab represents the prog-leaning side (imo)

I dont know, I'm not too big a fan of non stop crazy complexity. I will listen a couple more times, but so far, I hear the grind core of math rock.

Here lies the problem with Math Rock. A lot of it isn't very Prog-sounding. Drive Like Jehu is a good example. Polvo, Chavez and Giant's Chair are three more. One could also make a case for Ethel Meserve and The Hal al Shedad. The problem is that these would seem very out of place both in the Math Rock category and in Prog Related, yet Drive Like Jehu, for example, was one of the earliest bands to be labelled Math Rock, and Polvo and Chavez are also among the more important bands. We need to somehow make a distinction between "Proggy" Math Rock and "un-Proggy" Math Rock. Note that I don't consider the un-Proggy bands less good. They're highly recommended, especially Polvo. - Make sure to get Lightning Bolt included, by the way. Very Hella-esque. June of 44 would fit too.
