Peter Gabriel...it would be unfair to say by far, but it's my favorite Genesis member...second a tie between Banks and Hackett

I am completely unable to vote...
Even though I like early Genesis, I almost never listen to it. I
suppose that I require a certain mood to listen to Genesis and I'm
never in such a mood when I'm at home... And many a group comes before
Genesis in my list (Gentle Giant, Jade Warrior, even Wigwam, to name a
few).
Listening - and I mean REALLY LISTENING - to music is rather time
consuming. I'm only capable to actively listen to music for 2 hrs max.
After that, my ears need a break. If music is played in the background,
it drives me almost insane... I hate to go shopping because of that
fraking background noise all over, even in the freaking grocery store
or chemists (if I'm lucky), not even to mention bars and restaurants...
It's really amazing how many Norah Jones' songs I could sing by heart
before I listened to her 1st album for the first time (and I never - I
mean NEVER - listen to radio).
Sorry, maybe not the right thread for this one...

None of those 5 - I'd go for Chris Stewart, who left after 'From Genesis To Revelation' anf wound up farming in Andalucia. He wrote a really interesting book about it, Driving Over Lemons.

You mean there's someone in Genesis going by the name of "Peter".

I modified my point of view:
Pater Gabriel founded Genesis (Yes he had a more important role along with Tony Phillips than Tony Banks) and kept Genesis together, when he was in the band there were no problems, Tony made most of the music, Peter made most of the lyrics, all the rest of the members contributed a bit but accepted what Pete and Toiny had to say.
Peter went and suddenly the fights started, Phil didn't had enough strength to be the leader during the firrst two albums, Steve recorded an excellent solo debut album and he wanted to write more music, Mike believed (don't know why) he was able to make great music (he made Your Own Special Way ).
Tony's relation wasn't very good with Steve since VOTA (Tony didn't wanted anybody having solo career and Steve didn't invited him to participate in VOTA [the only Genesis member not involved in the project]). So it was the beginning of the end.
Tony and Mike started using their veto right against any Hackett track, they included Your Own Special Way (again , and double ) instead of some good Steve material that went to Please Don't Touch, and all was over, Steve said good bye and using Peter's words about Musical Box: thak...thump...crack...Genesis dead
Peter was the most important Genesis member.
Steve has the best solo career, probably better than his contribution to Genesis.

Gotta be my main man Steve Hackett.
Then Tony Banks, followed by Phil probably.

Why isn't Ray Wilson on this poll?
He would have been my vote for sure...jk
I can't vote in this poll, everyone from Genesis just fits together so well to create one phenomenal band.

Phil Collins. I really do like him, regardless of what happened in the 80's.
