I voted Tarkus   but I should say it is my favourite ELP album at the moment..

I still have some exploring to do. I only really know Tarkus, the debut album and Emerson Lake & Powell well. I have BSS on order and will probably get round to buying Trilogy. I've heard Pictures, and to be honest I thought it was laughable, although I was quite young when I heard it, so another listen may be called for.

But, Reed, you're right. Moving Pictures is a fine album  and ELP will never be as good as Rush, although I concede they have looked as ridiculous!

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

T'was BSS for a long time ... but in the last couple of years the first album has overtaken it ...
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

I'll have to go with works Volls. I & II. For some reason they are the ones I listen to the most  . I think at this point with all the crazy touring behind them they were able to sit down and think the music out with clearer heads. Also it is interesting to see what they could do individually. Father Christmas and Fanfare are two of my faves from ELP.

I voted for Trilogy. BSS goes over the top IMHO. Trilogy then again is a solid 4 star album..

I favour a quick version, without to much ado, so it's over before I'm aware of it.

Reedy Baby - how much ELP do you think is worth listening to and how much is dross ?

I listened to the Three fates courtesy of your MP3 collection - Not very impressed at all - Somebody told me the church organ was awesome - sorry but it's the worse use of Church Organ in ANY prog work...............

Well I would guess you'd have to like a church organ to be able to appreciate it.  You aren't evidently a fan of church organs... so whats the point.

The three fates is all about the second fate and its mergence into the third fate actually.  If you can't appreciate BSS, what makes you think you could appreciate this remarkable song??
