Larks Tongues in Aspic.
I like Red as well, but it doesn't flow as well as Larks Tongues in Aspic does.
If you were going to include In the Court of the Crimson King in this poll, you might as well have included Discipline as well.
I still wouldn't vote for it though.

The first one, even though it's a '69-er.
Larks' Tongues and Red are very good too.

ITCOTCK is from '69, but I voted it.
Three reasons why:
1. Greg Lake
2. Epitaph, title track, 21st Schizoid Man
3. The historical importance. It's THE prog classic IMO.
If ITCOTCK would be not available for a vote, I would take RED, their trio line-up masterpiece.

"The Night Watch" was a 90's 2CD release, so I understand it isn't mentioned here. I think it still presents the 70's KC most well, as a single release. There are ofcourse essential moment on the others...

ITCOTCK is a classic itself. Not a masterpiece, but a classic.

Even though ITCOTCK was released in '69, in my opinion it is the best of a bunch of great albums by a truly great band. It's true that their music can be a bit hard to take at times, but the marks of greatness are everywhere. BTW, as close seconds I would choose Larks' and In the Wake... - the latter mainly because of Greg Lake and his stellar performance in the title track.

I voted Red because its stronger as an album, although ITCCK has more
brilliant moments, but lesser quality material as a whole

I'm in the minority but my vote is Lizard, I love how that album goes through so many different phases, jazz fusion, prog metal, avant garde. Each song is completely different in style and in genre, and it features a wonderful 20+minute epic featuring Jon Anderson on vocals.

Red is my favorite 70's KC album. Why is In the Court of the Crimson King on here? It was released in 1969 and can't be called 70's King Crimson can it?
